Actually no, he can use biotics, top of the line implants. He speaks on that at length, so hes probably a Vanguard.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 01:14Shepard is a soldier

The player's choice of class does not affect the story in any way; there is one minor variation in dialogue when speaking to Kaidan Alenko, which refers to any chosen biotic class or biotic bonus talents in Mass Effect

Im so tempted to go back and have the convo in the game, because im pretty sure it always happens.
Why would he have implants and no biotics?Lhynn wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 02:11Im so tempted to go back and have the convo in the game, because im pretty sure it always happens.
Believe you get the dialogue regardless of what you are playing as, maybe it was a bug, or maybe nobody cared to remove it, but the wiki is wrong, or maybe it got changed in the new release. I think I had it on an engineer run, and my brother had it on a soldier run too, but its been a long time.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 02:13Why would he have implants and no biotics?Lhynn wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 02:11Im so tempted to go back and have the convo in the game, because im pretty sure it always happens.

You must accept that psykers biotics are the next stage of human evolution. Shepard and everyone else of importance has space magic.
It's actually shocking how unimportant and mundane space magic is in the setting.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:38Shepard and everyone else of importance has space magic.

It sees more usage as part of the story in Andromeda, especially with regards to actually doing impressive stuff.Vergil wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:40It's actually shocking how unimportant and mundane space magic is in the setting.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:38Shepard and everyone else of importance has space magic.
e.g., at one point a big part of a ship gets blasted open and some powerful asari uses her space magic to seal it while people get to safety, etc.,

ME1 somewhat tried to keep the setting on a medium-hard sci-fi level by tying everything back to "delta_mass = eezo * current", which gives the name to the series.Vergil wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:40It's actually shocking how unimportant and mundane space magic is in the setting.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:38Shepard and everyone else of importance has space magic.
I actually think it was a pretty neat trick of worldbuilding how they introduced one single fantasy uranium with one single, straightforward property to explain all the classic sci-fi-tropes at once: FTL travel, antigravity, force fields, pew-pew guns.
Anyway, biotics being relatively un-flashy was consistent and intended: it's supposed to be glorified telekinesis and not much more.
One of the many ways ME2 and 3 went way more Hollywood and way less space opera was by blatantly ignoring the above and making biotics do stuff like mind-control or poison enemies.
The amount of *** that Shepard finds himself in clearly points to him being an infiltrator
It was still too flashy for ME1's atmosphere and everytime someone started glowing grape I rolled my eyes.Demonic Fate wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 12:00ME1 somewhat tried to keep the setting on a medium-hard sci-fi level by tying everything back to "delta_mass = eezo * current", which gives the name to the series.Vergil wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:40It's actually shocking how unimportant and mundane space magic is in the setting.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 04:38Shepard and everyone else of importance has space magic.

ME2 would make more sense if they were intending for more than 3 games to resolve the reaper story. It did further the plot a little by expanding the universe lore. They showed how reapers can affect the development / reaction of other races and they explored some side content about the races to flesh everything out more, which is why it was kind of a cool game to play.KOS-MOS wrote: ↑ September 2nd, 2024, 12:51ME2 was enjoyable, but let's be honest—the plot didn't make any sense and ultimately didn't contribute to the overall story. I suspect the ME3 plot felt rushed because ME2 didn't advance the narrative, forcing them to squeeze the story of two games into one.Unhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ September 2nd, 2024, 04:37maidenhaver wrote: ↑ September 2nd, 2024, 02:36A missed opportunity, this series. I don't remember playing 3, only the controversy about it. I forgot what was 2 and 3. Should have ended in space feudalism and a draw with the Reapers.
Honestly looking back ME 3 ending was the least of its issues (gameplay, story, characters, dialogue) was a noticeable downgrade. However the moments where it shined were really good especially some overarching story arcs for certain romances and non romantic character developments.
But in a 3 party trilogy you are 100% right - it was a detour storyline that didn't build on ME1 at all and doesn't move the dial further for ME3.

I have no doubt in my mind if ME4 does come out it will have this aesthetic.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 16:12Was going to post a picture of Matriarch Benezia but this came up in the image results and made me heeheeVergil wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 15:27Shepherd is a breast guy.DrSneed wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 14:25The amount of *** that Shepard finds himself in clearly points to him being an infiltrator

First game is marningally pozzed and then it doubles each game after. How pozzed is it?
Just play Mass Effect 1 and then write a fanfiction in your head about what happens after.
Play Mass Effect 2 if you're bored.
Don't play Mass Effect 3.

It is worth it and if you can stomach 2000s liberalism, then you can enjoy it as there are still several based parts in it.Fox1 wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 16:21Is this series worth getting into now if you never played it before? How pozzed is it?

Yeah. Play it while it still looks nice and not too old.Fox1 wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 16:21Is this series worth getting into now if you never played it before?
Personal advice: don´t obsess over builds or completionism, treat it more as a movie with a bit of action RPG gameplay interspersed.
Late-'00s / early '10s American left-wing.How pozzed is it?
I.e. most girls are hot, most men are masculine and IIRC there aren't any ******, but homosexuality is normalized and even the mildest form of distrust towards aliens is treated as evil racism.

That is true. When ME3 came out I would have bet money they were going to add some noble batarians to show that they were ackchually misunderstood good boys, only driven to a life crime because of racist prejudice yadda yadda, instead nope lol every single batarian in the entire trilogy is an *******. Gotta give them a bit of credit for that.DrSneed wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 16:58Unless they're BatariansDemonic Fate wrote: ↑ March 30th, 2025, 16:51even the mildest form of distrust towards aliens is treated as evil racism.
