It's unfortunate Dragon Age Origins didn't have a sequel.

For discussing role-playing video games, you know, the ones with combat.

For some reasons, Bioware disappeared after DAO. It's like Troika, they do 3 decent games and then they go bankrupt.

DA2/Exodus was the beginning of the downward spiral for both DA and Bioware.

As a storyfag I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the negative feedback around it kept me away, but tried the demo and loved it :bounce:

wow drm, third party launcher, agreeing to 2 eula and still costs $6 for a 14 year old game. And the only good thing about that game were the sarcastic dialogue options really.

To a certain extent, but it was with DA2 BW started inserting modern political stuff into the franchise (which of course was even more prevalent in DAI, and DAV we all (don't) know (we are not playing that, are we? ). Also, the repeating encounters with people dropping from buildings or mountains 20(0)+ meters high and the repeated use of the same maps over and over really makes this game hard to want.
What saves it is the Legacy DLC, that is the only vaguely DA-like part of the entire game. IMO, mind you. 0:-)

Oh it definitely got worse in DA2. I remember physically cringing when Anders tried to hit on me :yuck:
But DAO was no saint either. Leliana's entire personal quest revolved around lesbian domestic violence.

When did you play it? Going into it after it released was a huge disappointment, but it might be tolerable compared to the slop that gets released now.

As it was released. Again, not much of a gameplay aficionado, so most of the gripes people had about it did not faze me much.

Origins wasn't that good in the first place.

Dan Tudge went on to do Sword Coast Legends which sucked but was more Origins-like than Dragon Age II.

It wasn't bad, it was just middling. Its issue was it was neither D&D, nor a successor to Baldur's Gate.

About 25 hours long if someone wants to play it. DLC(? expansion content) is completely unfinished, don't bother, they just released it to release it.

Shameless plug here, I made a 1 hour analisys on why this franchise was destroyed in my Drag on Age the DEI Guard review, and yes it truly feels like DAO never had a sequel LMAO.

Easy mistake to make. Dragon Age 2 is not Dragon Age: Origins II.

Sometimes I forget there are people who think the problem with video games is ""capitalism"". Bioware left half a billion dollars on the floor and it took Larian more than a decade to walk over and pick it up.

You want to see a real money printer going brrrr moment? The first company that makes a real spiritual successor to Skyrim.

Problem is the bosses with their bad management practices and poor hiring decisions.

DA2 is genuine trash. Everything took a 180. You had an anime edgelord anti-slaver, an age bait elf mage, Anders who is possessed by a homosexual demon that urges him to destroy the Chantry despite him never caring that much about anyone else in DA:A, a degenerate pirate whose only rise to power was her massive mammaries, a butch tomboy that is just as ugly as Cassandra, and Varric. What a crew.

The only good thing was spamming the sarcastic dialogue choices as someone else noted. I made a joke to my friends years ago when I played DA2 that the only good character was the protagonist. I also joked that DA:I wanted you to be a woman because the male romance options are so ******* terrible no straight dude would find it desirable. With Veilguard I feel justified in spotting this ****** mindset early.

Ugly manish tomboy or zesty brown tevinter. Which way Chud?

DA2 character assassination of Anders has to be the worst part of the game, and there's a lot of **** in it

The best part of DA2 is that it continues to show Templars did nothing wrong.

I happen to play it in reverse order - first DA2 then DAO. Yes, the games are incomparable and there is no player who would not admit DAO superiority. However, because of moving from bad to good, I do not hate DA2. There are even things I still love and always will - Varric and Arishok, for example.

Really, how can you hate this?

Hm well I guess yeah, he was the least boring of all, but he wasn't great either.
