I don't get the hype behind Kingdoms of Amalur

For discussing role-playing video games, you know, the ones with combat.

If you want to get into the nitty gritty it was more specifically a train.

I played the game for like 30 mins on my steam deck before I realized half the textures aren't displaying properly, it has a verified checkmark.

Doomcock and all of those other people who amassed large followings in the mid to late 2010s for criticizing Hollywood could have used their audience as an opportunity to launch a book series
Shadiversity launched a book to his audience. I've heard it's dogshit.
For what is worth, I read the book, and I don't think that was dogshit at all. Rough around the edges, absolutely, but as his first attempt, I think it was respectable. The thing I liked the most was the world building and the magic system there. The least favorite one may be the protagonist's personality, which at times is pretty inconsistent, and too much emphasis on rape in the protagonist's past. Again, rough around the edges.

But overall, I enjoyed the read.

For a game about souls and **** it feels quite soulless. If you want to know what 'generic' means when it comes to video games, this is it.

Chances are you are going to suck at anything you do for the first time. The key is to keep doing it and get better. I also respect that he even did it in the first place. And eventually his readership would filter down to the people who actually like his stuff. Lots of people don't like Steven King's books and think he's bad, but lots of people also think he's good, enough to keep buying his stuff and making him one of the best selling authors ever.
I think Stephen King is bad because he wrote a scene about a bunch of children having an orgy :)
In a sewer too... :yuck:

i finished that game. i dropped it twice cause the opening is kinda bad after a while it becomes more interesting and the fighting also is quite fun and some enemies prove quite a challange.

what i liked about it primarly was: It used colors and wasnt grimderp all brown boring dogshit like most other releases at the time.

the addon i dropped instantly the wirting took a nosedive. but the maingame is actually quite enjoyable especially if you like some classic colorful fantasy for a change.

So that's why all the PC gameplay I watched seemed off to me. The texture issue seems particularly bad when you look at the trees and other types of foliage.

Yes. Corrupted elves.
Does the game actually have lore and take into account you playing as an elf then or is it just sort of brushed aside?

You'll get the occasional mention of your race, but it doesn't play a significant role, IIRC.

Celtic lore mixed with chakrams. Did they predict the amount of indians and pakis that would migrate to Ireland? ha ha ha

I have the game installing now.

Teeth of Naros was a bit just there, but I liked Legend of Dead Kel. Particularly for the female Zapp Brannigan character.

I remember liking the island DLC.
I bet this game would have been pretty popular if it had coop, actually.

She's the annoying chick I was talking about. Awful, shrill voice too. Luckily, IIRC you can be rude to her, but you still have to put up with her.

Gotta say I'm not a big fan of the UI in this game so far. It feels very generic, oversized, and very much designed for the console market. Really feel like some of these UI elements like the hotkey bar could be smaller. The weapons, status bars, and minimap could be pushed further to the edge of the screen as well.

This is a very pretty game so far I have to say despite my disappointment with the character creator options
β–Ί Show Spoiler
I really don't like the dialog UI. There's no reason to straight up block so much of the screen like this. It looks like ****.

This was released back when tv overscan could still be a problem. The hotbar at the bottom is exclusively for PCs which is why they don't give it any such consideration.

Surprised those aren't things they changed in the remaster.
Are you playing the remaster, @Vergil ? AFAIK it's a straight all around improvement with fixes for various problems.
