Total War: Warhammer

For discussing tactical and strategy games. What's the difference between tactics and strategy anyways?

That's every Total War in the warscape engine. The computer gets even more free elite stacks in higher difficulties. There's no strategy, beyond ambushes.

I know it's only easy mode so it's not that impressive but I thought it was a pretty kino fight. I had a garrison of 3 spearmen, 3 archers, and one archer cavalry all half health and they had two melee units and their own archer cavalry. I was projected to lose in the auto resolve so I figured I'd at least play and see what I could do. I managed to end up with only their general (named Boudicca funny enough) vs two of my surviving archer columns. How I ended up winning was having her essentially ping pong back and forth chasing one archer column while the others shot at her and slowly whittled her health down. Finally when she had like a sliver of health left my archers ran out of ammo and all charged her in one final desperate assault which managed to route her winning the battle. Like I said I'm playing on baby ****** mode but it still felt pretty frickin epic!

Also, I really don't appreciate this real time strategy war game having random **** *** puzzles. As if I don't feel like a brainlet enough already!

depends on what factions you care most about playing, i suppose.

3 is effectively the definitive version of the game now with all the factions and immortal empires, but has some questionable decisions mechanics wise (and a bit buggier).

they left game 2 in a pretty good state before moving on to 3, so it's arguably better if you don't really care about what was added in 3. that said it's kinda hard to go back to 2 when there's no Daemons, Ogres, or Chaos Dwarfs

I had to ally with the dwarves for a joint offensive against the orcs. I'm disgusted.

nah, the only legendary artifacts not tied to a legendary lord is the Sword of Khaine, which is back at Ulthuan (elven homeland) and in game 3 they added the Nemesis Crown which is in the Empire.

Sword of Khaine makes you go sicko mode in combat but has campaign penalties, Nemesis Crown buffs your army and has similar penalties

Yup, the super helpful advisor that lets me know everytime ogre mercs I never use show up didn't tell me that abandoning an orc settlement the same turn I take it would result in my cities on the other end of hte map getting so ****** they're going to revolt in like 10 turns :))))))

yeah, better off just razing a settlement you dont intend on keeping, or just occupying and doing nothing with it. abandoning settlements just screws you over for no reason which is kinda dumb

i don't think you can trade settlements in game 2 either, pretty sure they added that in 3. pretty handy way of getting rid of settlements you dont want for $ers and to befriend factions

I was trying to game the system because I wanted the troop replenishment from looting and didn't want to wait a turn to raze it after. What a fiasco.

Didn't they do something where you have to have all 3 installed for some grand campaign? I dread to think how much diskspace that needs.

You just need to own them on the same platform
