I was looking for a mod last night that makes all Shep armor upgrades Onyx colored but couldn't find it

I did find one that added the N7 emblem to all armors which was neat

I used mods to have the original ME1 N7 armor in all games since they slowly succumbed to the Halo 4 overdesigned slop Sci fi aesthetic as the series went on

All these X Consistency Mods should be forwardporting to ME2 and 3, not backporting to ME1

If you opted for sniper rifle in ME1 it would have been effective but very boring. Many such cases.

Not in Mass Effect 1. There were no armor customizations outside of upgrade. As far as visuals went you took them as they were.

I never understood the Human Reaper concept
Image

So... they were harvesting human bodies and cells to... make a gigantic human-shaped Reaper? And they were using husks of Protheans they made into Spiders to do so... And they found us so extraordinary that they did it with us instead of Turians, Salarians, or Asaris before us?

ME2 is so overrated
The whole point of the "reapers" is that they destroy senient organic life when it reaches a point that they can do intergalactic travel and make AI, then harvest the most advanced race into a new "reaper" preserving the genetics (why? Lol) of that race, then rinse and repeat. As a "solution" (stopgap) to the "advanced organic races always make AI that destroys them" problem.

So yes there should have been a HUGE variety of reapers. And I dunno why the Protheans were the "harvesters" and why they had to turn them into bugmen, since this was meant to be the umpteenth cycle so some sort of harvester" should have existed already. There should have been a prothean looking Reaper instead.

Mass Effect 3's DLC got rid of this concept by introducing the leviathans which are where the Reapers got their appearance from now so the human reaper does have no reason to exist at all lul

Yeh but that was where the "preserving races / genetics" (what for?) Came from. So it still fits in, but not with MOST reapers looking that way. Should only be the first few.

In typical liberal writer fashion they were clearly just flailing around.
Shame.

Preserving the genetics is a loophole to their directive to preserve organic life with the supposed inevitable robot holocaust. You’d think the Leviathans would have been smart enough to not monkey’s paw themselves, though.

Personally I like to use a beret (although there were only mods for it in ME2 when I last played) and either the N7 armor from ME1 or the spectre armor.

It was cool in the sense that underwater locations and big squid aliens are neat but in the context of Mass Effect my eyes almost popped out of my head from rolling so hard.

I just realized both Mass Effect AND Halo's new writers both did the same ******** **** of taking their mysterious unknown alien progenitor race and demystifying them in a really nonsensical unsatisfying way and then creating a new progenitor race that basically just fills that role 1:1 anyway but written worse and now the concept has been watered down.

Are there any good fan made alternatives to the AI plot/dark matter plot? Because neither of those are satisfactory answers to the Reapers, and I’m starting to doubt if there was any good explanation with what they had set up in ME1. Maybe they should have dropped the Reapers entirely or just never given an answer?

The Reapers had been stopped for potentially thousands of years+ at the end of Mass Effect 1. They could have very easily pivoted to following Shephard exploring unknown/barely explored reaches of space for answers on a more permanent solution. Frankly I don't think the Reapers should have ever been directly fought. They're never going to work as anything more than a cosmic horror plot device. You don't build a big cannon to shoot Cthulhu you desperately find a way to keep him asleep. Otherwise you get stupid **** like Mass Effect 3 where the Reapers who have exterminated multiple advanced space faring civilizations with such ease it's considered a forgone conclusion are randomly deciding to land on earth and do brutal long siege warfare of cities (???).
I'm just stating the facts.

I was completely intrigued and found the Reapers a really cool concept in ME1. Something something Fermi Paradox, explains why galactic civilization has been bottlenecked. But I have a hard time imagining a COMPELLING explanation for where they came from. Maybe they should've kept it vague and committed to this

There was this scrapped dialogue from Sovereign speaking through Saren that would've expanded on his motivations. I think they made the right call scrapping it, though
