Why do YOU hate elves?

I've noticed it's very common and popular to hate elves. Even I used to have a little bit of an antipathy towards them in the past. This was mostly born out of my first real fantasy franchise I spent any time with being The Elder Scrolls and with Oblivion being my first game they got the absolute worst treatment out of all of them and thus the worst first impression. What reason do you have for hating elves? There's even an anti-elf quote in the quote rotation at the top of the site!

I love them in Christianic works such as Tolkien or Eternal Dream, where they are a take on what if God had not been merciful to Adam and shortened his lifespan. He would be condemned to live forever in a fallen, decaying world, seeing his creations torn down by others and unending malice and disappointment. Secular imitators miss this and is why their elves come off as flat or as unlikeable.

I do kind of hate that elves are basically always following the exact same "waning empire" trope. You never get to see elves during their rise or peak.

My opinion about elves is somewhat similar to Val's, as in I think that the OG Tolkien elves were a very good mold but the modern "intellectual authors" who dislike Christianity are unable to understand Tolkien's life views and thus can't replicate what made his elves good.

For the most part, modern elves are basically just humans with pointy ears that live very long. Each interpretation making them more mundane than the previous one.

Also, there's absolutely no logic to how their civilization is supposed to function. Can you imagine an elf performing any kind of basic manual labor? Where are these elven mines that the metal for their shiny weapons and armor come from? Who cleans the animal poop off the elven streets? Where do THEY even poop? There's something clearly WRONG about elves, and it's probably because they steal babies.

I don't hate elves. But I do loathe bad writers who want (their audience too their audience) to view elves as equivalent to colored people, "because slavery" and and all that ****** stuff. I also detest those that view elves, dwarves, gnomes and halflings as "smaller humans" that need "diversity just like in RL" and for that reason start inserting PoC and Asian heads on them. On humans? Fine, if their background can justify it (e,g., a character from Kara-Tur or even further east), but there are no corean elves or dwarves. And gnomes are not RL dwarves.

On a sidenote, I guess a "welcome back" is in order. Wonder how long it'll last this time?

This is a good point, actually. Tolkien wrote LotR his books (both those released in his lifetime as well as those posthumously released by his son Christopher) as an attempt to create an "English mythology", and borrowed himself much from both Norse mythology and Finnish (language as well as mythology; Kalevala), as well as Beowulf.
His elves are a far shot from the sort we meet in e.g., Elfquest however, and which formed (and maybe still forms?) much of how (A)D&D players in the 80s and 90s envisioned their elven characters.
