Has anyone else played these games? For the longest time they've been on my backlog and I finally decided to sit dow nand try to give them a go. I beat the first game recently. You can really feel that it's an early 360 gen budget title but it had *charm* and while the unique gameplay mechanics were kind of half baked in areas you can tell they had something special there if they could just refine it a bit more. Playing the second game and so far I'm very happy with the improvements. There's so much more polish this time a round both in the visuals and gameplay. Hopefully things stay positive as I work through it although I haven't been playing it as much recently due to getting a little burnt out playing the first game, it's expansion, and the sequel back to back to back. No clue about the prequel games or the weird Diablo clone spin off although I would like to give those a try too just out of curiosity more than anything. We have a Steam curator now. You should be following it. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44994899-RPGHQ/

Love how your little guys pick up everything they can to use as weapons and armor. Never got far past the Hobbits though.
For the longest time I was the same way. I would pick the game up, play for a little bit, go "oh that's pretty neat!" and then put it down for 3-5 years. I had it on xbox even and still just.... never got around to it until a few months ago.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ March 20th, 2025, 22:49Love how your little guys pick up everything they can to use as weapons and armor. I feel like the console Bard's Tale was the proto-Overlord if you're looking for something similar
Being an evil overlord is like 90% of the appeal for me nglOyster Sauce wrote: ↑ March 20th, 2025, 22:54I feel like the console Bard's Tale was the proto-Overlord if you're looking for something similar

By the way gog (not the polish one ^_^) has every game in the franchise on it really easy to download. Steam makes you buy the first game and expansion separately with the expansion costing more than the base game for some reason.

I dearly love and played the first one only myself, but will be trying the DLC and its sequel(s) once I will be able to
For anyone reading this that loved the first one and is, like me, resentful of DLCs and sequels especially these days, I was proven wrong for this game. The second game especially seems to be a true sequel that doesn't spit on the original, with much unexpected mechanics and graphics that I had no idea I would enjoy to see as much as I did.

Great series. Played all three a few times over the years. The satire is pretty amusing throughout all of them and the women are not ugly hags.
When you say all three which three do you mean? Overlord 1, 2 and Fellowship? I'm curious to hear about Fellowship as I didn't even know it existed until I started this little exodus lelThulsaDoomer wrote: ↑ March 21st, 2025, 00:11Great series. Nah, **** fellowship. Shameless cash grab. Overlord 1, Raising Hell, and 2. Nothing else exists as far as I'm concerned.
Counting Raising Hell as it's own game is very generous. I can appreciate that it was experimenting with the gameplay which by the end of the base game gets extremely formulaic but personally I was a little underwhelmed and the final boss felt like I was fighting the controls more than the boss. I'm not sure what they charged for it when it came out but for a handful of asset reuse Oblivion gates I would have been a little dissapointed.

They were always silly and they doubled down on it in the sequel but I rather liked the aesthetics of the elf ghosts in Overlord 1 and wish the elves in 2 resembled them more.
