Is it true that if you recruit Minthara while being a 'good guy' (aka knocking her *** out instead of killing her at the Goblin Camp then picking her up in Act 2) that eventually Halsin will force you to choose between him and her? Please let this be true, I will drop that tree-******* sex pest in a heartbeat.

Also, something I've noticed on my current playthrough. I'm playing as a Githyanki and hoo boy was the game not intended for a Githyanki Tav/Dark Urge. I'm pretty sure all the [Githyanki] dialogue options were intended for Origin Lae'zel Playthroughs because the companions ambient dialogue talking about my character and Lae'zel 'hooking up' made it sound like my character was a non-gith.
Not anymore, I think it was removed and now you can go both with Minthara and Halsin. I had both of them in Act 3 during my Honour playthrough.

I am not sure if it was removed, but I can confirm this can be done. The way I did it was to knock out Minthara instead of killing her (non-lethal weapons) and she would then show up in Moonrise Towers. There was even dialogue for it that I recall, meaning they designed that choice  , but I recall that going back to the Act 1 area at any point will **** up the game because it triggers some flag. I know I had to install this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1713 for my own playthrough when I first tried to play this "complete version" of the game because there was some issue and knocking her out did nothing or something along those lines. I think the mod is no longer needed now, but am not sure.

As flavour to this: she will show up as you leave her, meaning naked, for example, if you get her items after knocking her out (like it was in my game, which I quite liked as it added to how defeated she looked  ).

Edit: to add more, for anyone reading this, do keep in mind you won't be able to see or do her "camp celebration" scene, and Minthara's romance is quite cut compared to the others. Last I tried, I even recall it had issues of misalignment and dialogue+scenese not playing, not to speak of how they cut the part where she mentions pregnancy.

yeah in the newest patches that mod is not needed anymore. I knocked her out and now she and Halsin are both chilling in my camp. I think it’s better that way. I get Halsin being angry at her, but Minthara wasn’t responsible for wanting to destroy the Grove bc she literally was mind controlled by the Absolute.

It was indeed removed at some point, and there is a mod to restore the confrontation, for people who want Halsin to GTFO. (Or Minthara I guess, but you can already tell her to GTFO or kill her after freeing her.)

Where is the mod where I can tell all those Larian loser "companions" to GTFO?

Except Withers/The Avatar of Jergal. Withers is cool.

And you know what? I'll keep the frog woman. Not to "romance" her, just so she can roast idiots.

I think a major reason the backlash is so severe to other games compared to BG3 is you already can tell everyone you meet to **** off, or kill them, etc., in BG3

BG3 reminds me a good bit of Outerworlds in how you can feel two design philosophies pulling the game apart. Next larian game will be closer to avowed where one faction won.

I kinda find it impressive how a *Finished game* needs so far like 35 *Fixes* to game. https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Patch_Notes.

Early access is v4.1.1 same build as Final game v4.1.1, actually the game isnt really fininished.

My playthrough, I was playing the dark urge background (as a human man, of course).

I passed by the grove entrance and got in the fight for the XP and loot, but avoided entering that boring "grove" ******** (or even talking to the NPCs) because I don't like druids from a ideological standpoint and anyway, I'd heard the whole area was both dull and annoying.
So I wandered off and explored fought stuff, including the owlbear.
When next I made camp, a long time away from there, there's a cutscene after sleeping where this purple tiefling bard critter is dead and apparently I murdered her in a trance.
The other companions made a big deal about it as if they knew her, but none of us had ever set eyes on her and she had no business being in the camp at all.

Top-tier game design, Sven!
Setting mass flags at the wrong time.

I guess I'm the wrong sort of player for this kind of game.
The original player: I don't give a **** about local politics. I'm just here passing through and exploring and looting the place.
Wiped out the goblins just because: goblins and never went to the grove at all. Don't care what happened there. Fighting gnolls was more fun.
Met Karlach but party was full and didn't need a barbarian anyway, so I left her and continued exploring.

(Frankly, I care so little for the story NPCs that I would actually prefer to just have a generic mage, cleric, and thief instead of the three *******. The Gith girl can stay because she's amusing and we're on the same quest to kill illithids and remove our parasites and she could be handy.)

If I remember correctly the grove gets sealed off if you progress through the mountainpass area without going to the grove and helping them, then all the tieflings get expelled and this bard Alfirra for some reason ends up at your camp. The sealing off part should also happen once you move to the grimforge or in the act2 area. Cant remember anymore.

You're probably more of a Bethesda player - who’s used to games that start with “Aaaah! You/your child/your spouse/all of humanity is about to die NOW unless you act!” - only for your character to lazily wander the world, building settlements, growing crops, and never being reminded of the so-called “imminent” danger. In those games, the story is just an excuse for exploration and crafting; you can ignore the NPCs and the main plot without consequence.

In BG3, the story actually matters. Your character isn’t just aimlessly exploring but honestly racing against time, searching for a healer to remove the parasite in the head. That’s the whole reason for visiting the grove: to find a healer. Or, if you follow Lae'zel’s plan, you’re hunting down there the only person who knows where to find a crèche, again in hopes of removing the parasite. Unlike Bethesda games, the danger here is real - you can get a game over if you are too slow.

You don't need to get to Act 2, reaching the mountain pass is enough and there's a big popup telling you that you're dropping those quests when you do.

Seconding what Pixigreen said, if you don't give a **** about the story and just want to do a bunch of dungeon delving with a bunch of silent hirelings this really isn't a game for you - and you extra ****** up by picking Durge which is the more story-involved protagonist.

Maybe download Trials of Tav so you can play it as an arena battle game, idk.

since when do you get a gameover when you take your time? you only get a gameover if you leave that artifact from shadowheart behind and go to the mountainpass or grimforge/act2 area without it, if you have that with you can take as long as you want. Unless they changed/patched it after honor mode came out, havent updated my game since then.

There is only one in act1 if you killed gale and didnt resurrect him in 3days on this list. And the iron throne in act3. There is no mention of a trigger that your brainworm kills you if you dont hurry, like you suggested earlier.

Yeah there's no total game-over for just spamming long rests during the main game. Time sensitive quests exist, but the consequences for ignoring them are usually someone dying or stuff resolving itself without you (Grove vs Goblins being the biggest one early on).

One in act one, two in prologue and more down the line. There are several places where you can die if you are too slow. My point was, BG3 is the type of games where danger exists mechanically AND narratively. You can not forget about it unless you skip all narration, cut-scenes and dialogues and do not interact with NPCs. The whole premise of Act 1 is based on your party believing they’re on borrowed time. Like with a good DM, you are not forced to act but you are given all the reasons to act.

In Bethesda games you can ignore the “world-ending threat” for hundreds of in-game days without consequence. They are not story-driven, forget the story and do what you want, enjoy the scenery. These are different types of games and if you play one as another the experience is miserable. Some love both genres, some prefer one of them. Matter of taste.

Unless you count very short-term, like action games where you have 30 seconds to save a hostage or stuff like that - I don't think I've played a game that made it work well, and I'm not sure how you would.

If it's strict and explicit, it feels more like a chore than urgency. "Oh I would like to do X quest now, but Y quest expires tomorrow, so I guess I gotta do that one first."

If it's strict and hidden, it feels like random punishment. "You rolled a 1 on the timer, so you can't do this quest anymore."

If it's generous, think Fallout 1, you tend to forget about it. All it does is stop you from exploring and ******* around for in-game weeks at a time - is that even a good thing?

All in all, I think BG3 handles it pretty well. Usually it will be very immediate stuff like you walk past a burning house or a kidnapped victim, you don't have to interrupt what you're doing if you're in the middle of another quest or w/e, but if you flat out go to sleep before dealing with the situation they'll be a goner.

Another "time limit" I've seen recently that I liked is Rogue Trader's start. You have three urgent locations to visit, and based on whether they're the first, second, or third that you visit you're going to find that things have gotten worse and worse. It makes them feel like real crises that had real consequences for you "ignoring" them, but the timing is an actual narrative decision and not a numeric in-game clock.
