I'll be giving many extra luck points for whoever rolls randomly 3d6 for all stats. Some extra luck points to whoever rolls 5d6 drop 2 for primary stat, 4d6 drop 1 for secondary stats and 3d6 for the rest. I'll also come up with a "pick and choose" background point-buy that involves starting with some disadvantages.

After some careful consideration over the rules, I've decided to use large parts of ACKS system (read more about this system here and the get the rules here.) for the first game, which like said earlier will be a simpler adventure romp to test the waters in Play-by-post.
:read: I've been reading the the manual and it looks pretty fun. :dice:

@Irenaeus will the Spellsword class be available in your campaign?

Also, the book has a female and a negro on the cover and no obvious white males. DEIs are everywhere these days, even in supposedly toxic products.

I hope, there's some light way to do chargen. Because I sure not going to read 250 pages just to play forum game.

@Irenaeus, are you going to run in Karatasian kings?

The woman is the author's wife.

Yeah, the book is a bit lib, but my game isn't going to be. Hopefully no one will want to play a negro, but I'll allow a woman or two (with significant stat penalties) if it makes sense for someone's desired character.

We'll game with simplified rules, since I'm new to PbP and to the system, also I want to use some more stuff for flavor, like luck. For chargen you'll just have to name the PC, roll for stats, pick a class, some skills, traits, spells (if any) and equipment. You might want to add background, motivations, etc., to help me roleplay but it's not necessary. All players will start as down-on-their luck fellas (no knights or uber-mages) who need to prove their worth to get some respect.

I plan to use that setting one day. The setting of this first game is a more generic and low-fantasy D&D, which I hope doesn't offend or bore anyone. It can still be fun!

I'm open to suggestions as I'm developing the first adventure.

- Help! Goblins are attacking our village!
- How can I help?
- Take this key. It's from my cellar. You have to kill the rats inside so that we could hide!

Not like that.

Any setting could be fun.
We probably would need some metaplot (even if the very basic one) to add continuity to the story.
And some recurring characters, like opponent, sidekick, travelling merchant or merc band, eternal emperor (who's too big to speak to low level nobodies, so he sends his ******** clones to talk to, every one of them has unique disability), competitor adventurers, a circle of rotating saints that get avatared here and there.

First classes I'm considering are Fighter, Magic-User, Thief, Cleric, Bard. The other classes missing like Barbarian, Druid, etc. can be specializations of these or offshots, prestige classes. What you guys think?

This will happen for sure if the game is fun and there is demand for more. First adventure will start with talking to NPCs then setting off on adventure to gain loot, solve (or create) problems then return and earn basic reputation.

I, personally, would be more interested in the story (if it's your shtick).
In the beginning the stats could be as simple as "roll 3d6 or take 10 three times then assign the results to your three main skills/stats". Stats could be generic like melee sword&board, melee spear, lying, healing magic.
We could complicate things later.
(As far as I understand, it kinda in theme with ACKS's simple mechanics, though even simpler.)

I think that one of the greatest forum games out there is Treave's Epic (https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/lp-cyoa-epic.73515/), and he made do with minimal stats (and also obfuscated them for the players).

I'm planning on using the 6 attributes of D&D plus luck, then some resists calculated from them, then 3-6 skills for each player from a list of 65, then some traits here and there and whoever wants can add their backgrounds and motivations so I can improve the roleplaying and the story. Every PC starts in debt and that's the primary motivator, either money or reputation.

lol Used to joke about this with my buddy when we played Horde.

* Gravely Undead Male voice * "Get me 6 Spider Dicks, 12 bear anus's and 10 pairs of Plagued Wolf Balls."

" uhh what... what for exactly...?"

" An alchemical concoction I'm working on, ehh a 'Love' potion let's say. Afterwards feed it to this Frog here to test it."

" wtf...."

Can you reserve a spot for me, please? I'm in the middle of something right now and can't do the character creation right this second.
Also, what can you spend Luck points on besides stats?

Never fear, I've reserved a spot for you. We might have to enlarge the party if there's a huge demand, but I think 12 is a good number for starters.
Luck will be a stat that will be rolled sometimes (lucky or unlucky stuff can happen). Luck can be spent in rolls to increase success and will grant XP. Luck can be gained by accident during the adventure (by chance or luck...).

Hey folks,
with Character Creation and the Fantasy Setting practically done, I'm getting ready to launch the game in a new thread. Anything that I'm missing that you want to discuss before we begin?

Here are the characters' tables for a reminder:
