This period in japanese history is really interesting imo.

Some facts about the game:
- has bayonet as the primary weapon (rifle is a secondary)
- has spear and polearm as two different primary weapons
- composer is Inon Zur
- the game was not published in South Korea

Rise of the Rōnin will not release in South Korea. Early reports indicated that this is due to comments by Fumihiko Yasuda comparing Shoin Yoshida to Socrates, which sparked controversy in South Korea. Although Yoshida played a key role in the Meiji Restoration, he is also considered an integral person in what would lead Japan to conquer and occupy Korea. Sony later confirmed that the game would not release in South Korea, but did not provide an official reason

It feels like this game kinda went under the radar in the west but had good sales in Japan.

No DLC has been announced since release in march 2024.

How does that follow? Why would it be applied universally?

Also, civilisation or similar games are different, I couldn't care less in those cases. Shogun 2 has Dutch ships to capture, but idgaf about that obviously. This case would be similar to Assassins Creed 3, which I dropped despite not being fully aware of the very intentional political message behind it back then. It's just something I'd avoid. For instance, if there was a game about Zulus killing European colonists, I would avoid this. The key aspect is in the intention behind it, whether the whole game is made for whining about European colonisation for the billionth time.

I don't think there are any games about Brits or Yanks killing Japs actually, which is surprising considering how evil we allegedly are, but I wouldn't mind a game about killing Mao's little soldiers :^)

If it was a game made by the French about killing English, then it would be the same intention I suppose. I don't like all the Jewish games which salivate over killing Germans.
My preferences in that arena would be more ideologically rooted, because it's not as if there aren't any Europeans that I hate. Soviet Commies? **** them.
If it was a game about the British vs Americans, this is more difficult for me, and it would entirely depend on how realistically depicted it was. If it's very accurate, and not constant ******** about America being a multiracial Jewtopia from the start, with British playing the villainous caricature (for the billionth time) then I wouldn't mind it, because I'm not a Monarchist, and I have no real idea if that Monarchy was actually any good.
