South Park, The Outer Worlds, and Grounded did well with a lot of normies, but they're not "build-up-a-must-have-recognizable-brand" games.Ryzer wrote: ↑ February 25th, 2025, 01:12Or maybe release a better product to the common normie like Fallout New Vegas? and the fans number would not be 100k but more. Just saying.Roguey wrote: ↑ February 25th, 2025, 00:09Bethesda built up such a big brand from Morrowind to Fallout 4 that tens of millions of people wanted to own Starfield, not rent it. Outer Worlds wasn't that bad.
...
Anyway Avowed... been hearing a lot about how awful it is directly from people dumb enough to buy it. I think this pretty much says all I need to know though:
...
- Aside from the butch mechanic girl who was of course gay.
- All the other gay.
- The only romance was a disgusting gay lesbian filth thing. Also no option to toss said degenerate out the airlock. -10 points alone.
- All the men were wimps.
- Regularly made fun of guys in general.
- Was in 1st person so I got a headache. <- Biggest issue probably.

- And your character's appearance is a complete waste of time as you never see it again past the inventory screen.
- The most interesting story points were from a drunk guy in a bar on a failed terraforming planet.

It's a game... Sort of...
No, really, every reviewer is right - it's so bland you can not say anything particularly good or bad. The writing is weak, yes, but not horrible. The agenda is there, yes, but not outrageous and more surprising with its obvious out-of-place existence. The graphic is good, but the design is questionable, the optimisation is good, but if you are the unlucky one, the bugs will be quite annoying. Combat can be fun, but enemies are the same throughout the game. Exploration can be fun but only in some places while others are restricted and you never know if you can climb a particular mountain or there will be an invisible wall in the middle. And so on and so forth.
My biggest gripe remains the writing half of which suffers not even from immaturity of the writers but from absence of reactivity. The quests should be done in a particular order, you are not aware of, and if you break that order, the game does not recognise that you have already done some parts. You get the rewards, but it's very awkward. Same with dialogues: you can try, say, to avoid admitting something, and you even have options to do so, but the game (and NPCs) will react as if you blurted out everything you were hiding in the first sentence. There are some real choices you are allowed to make (at least I think you are) but not many. Because of that, unless you follow the prescribed path, your conversations with anyone often become incoherent. Very annoying.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

I was commenting on how threads like this one, Veilguard, Assassin Creed, and the like used to be much more active than they currently are now, which I actually think it's a good thing, because apathy for these games - instead of hate - is a good thing.Shillitron wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 17:44"Our"UltraFan123 wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 17:43Our levels of apathy are now such, that threads like these are now a bit stale. kek

Not watching but he's willfully ignorant if he thinks gamepass numbers don't matter. I'll give them another two weeks for a formal announcement of how many players they've had.

This is a cope. Indiana Jones "bombed" in traditional sales, but Machinegames is expanding, ergo the number of gamepass players was satisfactory. Their business model factors in gamepass subscribers.

It's ok. Switched to being a mage and I guess that is somewhat more fun than just slowly swinging a two hand weapon.

And they'll still cut off devs if they're unhappy with the results, just like they cut off Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 20:09microsoft has unlimited moneyRoguey wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 20:09This is a cope. netflix gaming is gay and anyone who supports it deserves the **** we're being fed.
Developers are using the same inverse-cope to justify zero sales. "n-n-no Gamepass ate my homework!"Roguey wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 19:21he's willfully ignorant if he thinks gamepass numbers don't matter

Just realized TOW stands for "The Outer Worlds", not critically acclaimed MMORPG "Tales of Wind". Very confusing couple of weeks

Curious if the whole point is to lure companies into using Gamepass, which cuts into their standard digital sales, they then take more losses on GP not giving them enough money, and when the company valuation gets low enough Microsoft swoops in to buy it up.Shillitron wrote: ↑ March 3rd, 2025, 21:40Developers are using the same inverse-cope to justify zero sales. Slowly accumulating more devs until the whole industry is just streaming Gamepass slop with MS propping it up with it's deep pockets

the point of gamepass was they saw netflix making money by licensing 30 year old shows people liked and got the great idea of doing that before taking a look at how awful netflix originals are and how nobody watches them
that's it
that's it
