You pulled a Val and forgot the "d". Without the "d", it just gives you whatever number you put in.
Because it'd be funny. Too late. Didn't win anyway.

Episode 24: War Is Hell
GhostCow claims the barely-legal post-preteen imp girl for himself.

A second mechanoid cluster deploys very close to our walls

Rusty analyses another piece of flesh. Still need more samples to be able to detect an imposter via surgical inspection.

BD's **** spine gets replaced. We're investing quite a few resources into this drooling ******.

Val finds another flesh sample just outside the research lab.

Oyster analyses it and Val suspects that Rusty might be the imposter - he wasn't abducted into the maze and often works in the lab. Reminder that the other 2 samples were found in the freezer and bathroom, where pretty much everyone goes.

Boon inspects Rusty and gives him a passing grade. The prospect of Boon himself being the imposter and lying is brought up.

So Captain inspects Boon, who also seems clean. We're just gonna have to trust that our surgeons are clear for now.

Dorfleet is checked also. It seems like a bad idea to keep people woozy from anesthesia while there's an army outside of our walls, so we're going to take a break for now. There's also the possibility that the freak was one of the dwarven children who just left on a shuttle. That would be ideal!

GhostCow's fiancee arrives, crossing our bridge covered in stinky rotting corpses.

She comes from a military background, which means we're going to put her to work manning a mortar. We've finally remembered that these exist and we're going to start the fight on our terms.

Captain loads an anti-grain warhead we looted years ago and sets his sights on the further encampment...

He actually misses by a long shot, but the radius on that thing was ******* immense. The blastwave destroys all of the weaker mechanoids and buildings, severely injuring the rest. Just out of frame, a herd of horses was incinerated.

The tougher ones move to engage.

That was our only warhead, the rest of our stockpile is HE and incendiary shells. The shrapnel from the HE proves to be pretty damaging even when the shots go wide.

The closer mech camp has mortars of its own and returns fire after waking up.

Pray you don't get hit!

Elias tucks tail and runs due to his innate fear of fire

One shell is a direct hit on Boon and BD. They're able to get out without burning to a crisp at least.

Oyster and Musa get torn up by minigun fire and peel off

Vitya goes down hard while falling back to the inner walls

Rusty sends half a dozen wolves to die as a distraction, buying him a few seconds to drag Vitya somewhere safe

Things are looking a bit desperate, so we use the comms console to get in touch with mercenaries and buy a 1 day contract for 5 of them. They immediately drop pod in and start fighting.

The horror!

Boon takes a second to patch up Vitya and then drags him back to the hospital where he'll stay and help the wounded for the rest of the fight

Rusty's second favorite jackin' it arm is blown off at the elbow and a wolf carries him from the battle

The loss of a leg and a lung isn't enough to keep this merc from fighting. It took losing her second leg to do that.

The hospital is filling up and we're losing defenders. A few bullets have even penetrated the outer walls and are keeping Rusty awake

Dumped every mortar shell we have.

The two remaining mercs push into the encampment. A few turrets remain.

Seabron succumbs to his injuries and it's just Tamela left. She magdumps the smoke spewer and destroys it, signaling the end of the war.

We're going to need even more beds. Quite a few missing body parts, but nobody important died.

Here's our mercenary contract by the way.

Chuck wants to live life with no regrets. He flirts with Waifu again... and succeeds!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's still the skinchanger threat to deal with, and we clearly need to overhaul our defenses. Better armor, stronger walls, more mortars, lethaler weaponry.

Duke is now a walking Tank with an annoying voice. His voice modulator must be set to Ben Shapiro.
We can even research more powerful, specialized caskets for you. Takes a good while though.Jordy wrote: ↑ February 26th, 2025, 19:41Duke is now a walking Tank with an annoying voice. His voice modulator must be set to Ben Shapiro.

I'll bribe you 3 coins to make a beautiful xenotype babe with noble blood for me to court so I can fulfill my aspirations.
Also you said that Boon patched up Boon when you meant Vitya.

about? Did you want to set me up with an existing character with the beautiful trait instead?

Episode 25: Mystery ****** Revealed
Vitya rolls a 6 and gets... alcoholism!

GC and his fiancee reading in church together

Setting up a few proximity detectors to let us know if something invisible tries to sneak into the base again

Quick party to celebrate nobody important dying in that last fight

D'aw

Elias finds some more spooky flesh in the freezer. We still haven't found the imposter.

Another Goddamned mech cluster.

It rudely starts bombarding us before we get ready

This batch has significantly fewer Death **** Rapebot 9000s, so it's not so bad.

Swordsman take out the cannons with the help of a few smoke grenades.

We take out the spawners and it's dealt with.

We set up a thumper to attract an elite insect to extract its pherocore for nefarious purposes.

The Empress goes directly to an unstable power cell from one of the previous mech clusters and starts gnawing on it

Well, there goes the pherocore.

The Empire, still hostile towards us from that time we accidentally shot a bunch of their delegates, offers us redemption. We've gotta provide 19 fighters for a strike mission. There are only 5 enemies, so they might be really tough.
Leaving a skeleton crew at base. Sure hope nothing bad happens while we're away!

We deploy and there are 5 peasants. Two of them are wielding clubs.

No surprises here. There isn't even anything worth taking. But at least we're back on good terms with the Empire.

Kirsten hits the third trimester

Elias and Stack are now able to advance through the ranks of the Empire

Stack's ceremony in our embarrassing and ****** shared throne room

Surgically inspecting the slaves now.

Boon inspects Hoss and gives him a pass. No monster here.

@Elias can choose a permanent reward from the Empire now that he's an Acolyte. He'll be able to call resources, laborers, or soldiers freely with a cooldown that can be reset instantly by sacrificing honor. More options can be chosen as higher ranks are attained.

This is getting ridiculous. We get more people doing more inspections to try to figure out where this ******* monster is. Oyster and Raviola are fine...

And then Coizz gets showered in blood as a metalhorror starts slicing its way out of Boon!

One cuts its way out of Hoss too.

Stack loses his only good leg when one emerges from him.

Musa nearly has his head cut off fighting a metalhorror in the hospital

GhostCow duels one that was inside of Captain.

Val and Kalarion kill the Hoss'

Scibilla's kidney stone is dealt with after it mangles Todd.

The hospital is secured

Chuck rushes to help Dorfleet kill the one that was infecting Stack.

With this problem finally dealt with, we can see exactly what happened. Hoss was first implanted when he was cut by a fingerspike however long ago. As one of cooks, he was able to infect 3 others through meals, including two of our doctors who continually gave false reports while doing surgical inspections. Boon even infected a slave while "inspecting" her. What a ******* mess. At least we've gotten rid of them all... right?
