They didn't make those systems or features that came included with the Fallout 3 engine.
Not my problem.

First person RPG? Skyrim-Like.

Deal with it.

Don't like it? Too bad.

Market decides what your game is. If your game can't even offer me more fun than Modded Skyrim - I ain't buying it. :turtle:

EDIT

Seriously. Imagine applying this logic in any other industry.

This was literally the argument game developers were making when BG3 dropped.

"Don't expect BG3 from us! prepare yourselves for disappointment and buy subpar products at higher dollar amounts! You can't expect us to compete! Yes our game is bad but we worked realllllly realllllly hard on it!'

First Comment:

"Good but it's not enough"

-Hansen threatens with "wait until you see the 'default'".
-The default is pronouns turned on. (You have to check the box to turn them off.)
-Grummz claims victory.

:notsureif:

Don't ever give this grifter a moment of peace.
I see a lot of these victories they proclaim as completely absurd.

"Oh yeah, we totally won everyone! They were going to gay rape us and since we persisted, we now forced them to wear a condom! We are winning everyone!!!!! Rejoice!"

In this case it's even dumber. Based on Hansen's original comment, nothing has been changed at all.

Again, you don't need to compare Awowed to Skyrim, or even New Vegas.
It's an incompetent failure compared to THE OUTER WORLDS, their last game.
Guess Timmy kicked some *** to make them make a real game.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

But BG3 isn’t even perfect. It’s a great game, but that’s about it. It has tons of issues—technical, writing, pacing, you name it. So many useless dei dogshit features. And yet, they all act like it’s the pinnacle of game development, some kind of unbreakable glass ceiling they’ll never surpass… Lmao. This is so pathetic.

It's an incompetent failure compared to THE OUTER WORLDS, their last game.
I’m not far into the game, but I think I already know what’s the biggest problem with it - for me, at least. There are plenty of objective flaws (it is a failure on all fronts), but this one is personal. The writing feels completely artificial and disjointed in everything it touches.

Veilguard was horrific, but at least it was honest. It was California fanfic about Dragon Age - made by alphabet people for alphabet people. Fine. At least you knew immediately what the game was about. Here, it’s different. No in-your-face lectures, no blatant messaging, but you're still expected by default to act and think like a Californian. No one tells you to "pull barves," but the game assumes you’ll do it on your own. And since these forever-brainwashed-teenagers writers think logic is a right-wing conspiracy, the quest stories are hard to follow.

Examples (spoilers for some side quests):
► Show Spoiler
Or take side quests. You approach a quest giver, and the first line is, "So, you finally decided to come back." What? Why? Because I walked past you five minutes ago and didn’t stop? Is that supposed to be reactivity? Or I climb a random mountain in the wilderness, and a gang of obvious thugs shouts, "We are saved! We knew the Envoy would come for us!" Sure. That’s exactly why I scaled this peak.

And then there are the smugglers. Oh my God! From the very start, you’re dealing with smugglers. What smugglers? This is a free land that belongs to no one. Every nation just has a presence here. What’s being smuggled? Who has the authority to forbid anything? And even if the premise made sense, why do all these smugglers sail straight to the city? The land is huge - find a safe spot! But no, the California writers only know that an RPG should have smugglers, and that for some reason, their lives must be tough.

Typical dialogues are "1.Yes, 2.Yes and I care, 3. Ok, yes, 4. Die you scam!" You can kill some NPCs but it's so out of the blue without any reason, any support in the story or current dialogue that I can't help but think it's on purpose, to state that only complete pscicho would do such a thing.

The writing is so random, childish, immature, and artificial that it hurts.

In my defence, I did not pre-order or buy the game and Steam is not aware I am playing it (I do not raise their player count).
But yes, even simply curious gamers add to the problem.

A Plan for the Improvement of English Spelling

For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s," and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and Iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all.

Jenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with Iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and Iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants. Bai Iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez "c," "y" and "x"--bai now jast a memori in the maindz ov ould doderez--tu riplais "ch," "sh," and "th" rispektivli.
Fainali, xen, aafte sam 20 iers ov orxogrefkl riform, wi wud hev a lojikl, kohirnt speling in ius xrewawt xe Ingliy-spiking werld.

Directors at Daimler Benz and Chrysler have announced an agreement to adopt English as the preferred language for communications, rather than German, which was another possibility.

As part of the negotiations, directors at Chrysler conceded that English spelling has some room for improvement and have accepted a five-year phase-in plan.

In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Also, the hard "c" will be replased with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but komputers have one less letter.

There will be growing kompany enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replased by "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20 persent shorter.

In the third year, DaimlerKhrysler akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reash the stage where more komplikated shanges are possible.

DaimlerKhrysler will enkourage the removal of double letters, whish have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"'s in the languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps sush as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" by "v".

During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be droped from vords kontaining "o", and similar shanges vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis, and employes vil find it ezi to kommunikat viz eash ozer.

Ov kors al supliers vil be expekted to us zis for all busines komunikation via DaimlerKhrysler.

Ze drem vil finali kum tru ...

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad yu smil, plez pas on to oza pepl.

I noticed the Avowed director said the exact same thing Kim Belair said about making a product. Namely that their goal was not to produce something great, but something mediocre. For Kim Belair, she stated that she doesn't care about the quality of a product as long as she had a team of people she enjoyed working with. Carrie Patel basically said that mediocrity is the goal and is now patting herself on the back because that goal was met.

Imagine taking pride in putting forth bare minimum effort. This trash deserves to be pirated at best and discarded at worst The creators are all but admitting they're producing drive-thru slop.

Well yeah, she even gave a GDC talk about how game development needs to be a strict 40 hour work week without "mavericks" and "martyrs" trying to guilt/push other people into going the extra mile.

This is exactly how a woman thinks and acts when she runs a business. She wants a comfortable work environment and prioritizes that above the quality of the product. No risks, no edges, no art out of adversity; just drive-thru meals made for instant gratification and to forget about tomorrow. Get in, get out, get paid. The industry devoid of any humanity. But at least now the work environ is safe and secure and nobody can be called a sexist. Bravo!

At least they're not lying, for all that's worth.

Ultimately, MicroSoft is the one footing the bill, and if they're willing to pay people to **** out slop (that doesn't sell), who are we to blame them? It's not like we're losing anything in the process, nobody working on Obsidian has the talent or passion to make anything better, so everyone benefits from them staying there and spinning the proverbial wheel.

Everyone wins - MS loses money, the leftard employees are kept busy, and we get to laugh at their incompetence.

I don't begrudge people wanting a proper work/life balance, but there also needs to be an acknowledgment that game development is not conductive to such a lifestyle, thus making the profession one for young men or, if older, lifelong bachelors.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment, just saying that they at least have enough self-awareness to acknowledge they lack the ability to make anything better. Admitting that to the public is a sure sign of retardation, but then again... wahmen. It at least puts them a rug above all the other self-deluded libtards.
