When or by which version did Dwarf Fortress becomes nearly as fully featured as it is today?

No RPG elements? It probably goes here!

I presume it was not in the first release in 2006 but maybe circa 2010 or 2012 or 2014?

Or maybe it was already 2008?

I don't remember but which version was basically with most current (2025) features already in there? (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?board=10.140)

Not be confused with improved graphics, which came later, but features wise?

By the way, did Adams ever write more than 2 papers on it? Wanna make a blog post on it, need to cite correctly.

I would say the last pre-Steam version, 47.05. Well, that would be 47, since the .05 is bugfixes, but there's no reason not to take the bugfixes.

By the way, the game doesn't really have ****** dwarves, that's a myth.

What was missing relative that from earlier versions that was substantial to the 'experience'?
