Episode 14: I Beat Kingdom Come

And we're back.

Image

Nobody has volunteered to get entombed in a warcasket so the foundry'll just stay powered off over in the corner here.

Image

Chuck spends 3TC for the Perfect Memory trait. There's normally a bit a slow passive skill decay about level 10, but that won't be affecting Chuck anymore.

Image

We get a quest to investigate an ancient prototype generator and maybe claim it for ourselves, but we've gotta recover a bit before sending anyone out.

Image

Due to having a dozen wolves and like 120 turtles it's becoming too difficult to keep up with training them. The turtles are pretty docile, but the wolves require frequent maintenance training. One gets a bit feral and snaps at Rusty.

Image

Stack doesn't give a **** and goes ahead with taming a megawolverine.

Image

Parts of an infected ship crash down and bugs immediately come crawling out towards us.

Image

Manning the battlements.

Image

Suddenly wild turtles emerge from the nearby lakes and river and start attacking the bugs. They're not friendly towards us, the bugs are just closer.

Image

Once again I forget to micromanage the robots and a few get torn up outside the wall.

Image

Turtles engaging the enemy.

Image

The arena felt a bit small so it's being expanded.

Image

One of the chickens got into our stash of the most powerful and addictive drug in the game. Luciferium cures all wounds and ailments when ingested, but gives you a lifelong addiction that causes the user to go berserk and then die if they go into withdrawal. It's not something you give out lightly, so this chicken gets gunned down after pecking at some other birds.

Image

Nobody wanted anything to do with the remaining two prisoners so we give them as slaves to an imperial tribute collector in exchange for honor, giving Stack a royal title.

Image

We have an absolutely bumping summer festival. Everybody is in high spirits.

Image

Harps are researched and one is set up in the throne room so WhiteShark's mom can play music for Rusty. Dorfleet's wife plays for her man as well.

Image

An armory is set up across the base from the prison so we can avoid prisoners smuggling doomsday rocket launchers back into their cell again.

Image

Finally setting off to check out this prototype generator. It's a much longer journey than we've made before. Maybe if we get in good with the Empire they'll let us use a shuttle every now and then. We had to research and make a bunch of packaged survival meals to make sure the food doesn't spoil on the trip.

Image

We also researched nutrient paste. The hoppers next to the grinder can be loaded up and blended, the resulting slurry is then piped to the storage vats on the left. From there, it can be piped to dispensers across the base. We'll just set up one in the prison so we don't have to feed prisoners proper meals. Each vat can hold about 75 meals worth of sludge, making it a decent emergency stockpile for us as well.

Image

Nobody claimed the retributive impaler so Boot gets it, since he's our only dedicated melee guy. He now has spikes that automatically stick out of his body and jab people who try to hurt him in melee range.

Image

And since Elias is now deathly allergic to fire, he gets the fire suppression system. It'll emit a bunch of firefoam should he get too close to any dangerous flames.

Image

The caravan is making decent progress.

Image

And finally arrives at the site. The prototype is junk, but we manage to salvage a part that might help us build one in the future. Rusty also hacks a terminal to get more leads on other prototype sites. Other than that, there are a few pallets of wood we grab before starting the long walk home.

Image

Updated prison design. The nutrient paste tap placed alongside a wall while the entrance door has been shifted so that if any prisoners break out, they'll be walking directly into the wolf den. The bottom cells have been made slightly larger too.

Image

Speaking of wolves, one gets uppity and tries to make a meal of Raviola. She puts him down swiftly.

Image

Replacing the steel walls with stronger stone.

Image

Both of our main cooks are out adventuring so Elias takes over. Now that he's a vamp, he has to enter a long deathrest occasionally.

Image

We have so many ******* turtles.

Image

Elias goes to bed. He'll be out for a few days.

Image

Romulus, one of our two original wolves, goes feral and starts snacking on puppies. The rest of the pack turns the tables on him.

Image

Image

The caravan makes it home in one piece. Oyster got food poisoning along the way so some of the wood had to be abandoned.

Image

Rusty owns this guy visiting us ridiculously hard.

Episode 15: My Cat Stepped On The Power Button And I Had To Rewrite This Entire ******* Episode

A few guys go to check out an old, abandoned library.

Image

Most of the books are falling apart.

Image

But a few have valuable information.

Image

These devilstrand mushrooms didn't finish growing before the cold season and start to die off. We'll have to try hydroponics inside, but it'll need to be researched first. They have the best fibers available for clothing and armor padding.

Image

This Todd guy seems to need help. Sure, he can come over.

Image

Image

We immediately beat the **** out of him and lock him in a cell as he arrives.

Image

A neighbor sends us an alcoholic woman with a shattered pelvis to take care of.

Image

BD enslaves Mr. Howard and lets him know how things are going to be for him from now on.

Image

And then he immediately tries to instigate a slave revolt and gets lit up. He'll be put in time-out for a while.

Image

Mining out some rooms to put new stuff in.

Image

Image

Going to install a trash compactor here.

Image

Which is perfect because we have hundreds of garbage bags piled up. There's nowhere to put them so there's starting to flood the halls. This is due to Vitya's robots emitting waste when they recharge.

Image

Image

The compactor emits toxic gas while working, so we safely seal it behind a wooden door.

Image

A squad arrives at a compound said to host the last piece of intel needed to triangulate the location of the coveted HQ Platinum.

Image

Duke lobs a grenade in and the other blast the mechanoids when they come scurrying outside.

Image

An unstable fuel cell is tripped and the place starts to heat up.

Image

Back at home, Todd reveals that he was sprayed with insect pheromones when he was trying to steal their delicious jelly, and now they're coming for revenge.

Image

Stack gets hit hard and goes does. Duke and Captain clean up white Rusty and Oyster are hacking terminals.

Image

Meanwhile, the bugs emerge.

Image

Our Empire guests get riddled with bullets during the battle since they aren't terribly smart, causing our relations with them to ******* plummet well into the hostile range.

Image

The last of the bugs are wiped out in a ******** crossfire I should not have set up that gets Zoth dinged by a few bullets.

Image

And the final terminals are hacked, providing us with the location we need. Stack gets carried out.

Image

We throw the guests in prison so we can tend their wounds and release them, hopefully restoring some of the lost reputation. One of them dies from his injuries.

Image

The HQ Platinum is located in a mountain base directly between our away team and our home.

Image

A fresh squad is sent out and they cross paths like two ships passing in the night.

Image

Nothing on the outside.

Image

The defense system hasn't been activated since we got here so early. Snatching the prize will definitely trigger it though.

Image

Everybody gets into position.

Image

Kalarion deconstructs the entire reliquary since it's made of gold, BD gets singed while Boon rails the scorcher.

Image

Everybody is fuckin' stoked. I have no idea who Apple is though.

Image

Duke has a sickbed epiphany and gains the Kind trait

Image

They got ambushed by some bandits on the way back and managed to take a staggeringly ugly girl captive. This plot thread leads nowhere because I accidentally set her to be released.

Image

Image

With the gold we salvaged, the multi-analyzer is finally finished after sitting there half-built for like a year. It boosts the speed of our research benches and allows us to research the most advanced technology.

Image

5 guys go to investigate another distress signal from that village that was overrun by cultists.

Image

This time there are about 50 genetic monstrosities and no survivors in sight. We just bail, that's too many.

Image

Hydroponics basins are researched and we set up a room for them. Turns out they can't grow devilstrand which was the entire reason we wanted them. We could use them to grow food during a lean winter, but the sunlamp consumes a ton of power - like ten times as much as most other things. It'll stay idle for a the time being.

Image

We agree to host some sick prisoner for a season in exchange for advanced components and uranium.

Image

To solve the devilstrand problem we end up making a heated greenhouse outside. Two heaters draw waaay less power than a sunlamp so this works out perfectly.

Image

New fabrication benches can be used to craft our own components from steel

Image

Or even make bionic animal spines! Techno walks again. See how happy she looks?

Image

Got a watermill generator set up. It doesn't produce too much, but it's perfectly consistent unlike solar or wind. Hoping these walls prevent dickheads from shooting at it

Image

We'd have to sortie if anyone decide to swim around and **** with it

Image

The megawolverine goes wild due to a lack of training.

Image

Wolves are bad enough, but we can't risk this guy getting hungry near us. RIP.

Image

A few dozen cultists show up.

Image

I think one of them gets past this bridge.

Image

Image

Could honestly stand to lose a few turtles.

Image

Our corpsesuckers prowl the battlefield looking for a quick bite to eat.

Image

We're nice guys so we let these kids crash for the night. Not offering them a place to live though.

Image

The Lizard Squad arrives shortly after the cultists.

Image

These are the first guys to use sappers to try to breach our defenses. They also have excellent cover behind these rocks.

Image

Gotta leave the base for this fight.

Image

The main force scares them off while a team at the back picks them off while they run

Image

While looting, one of them triggers a suicide vest and catches BD in the blast, nearly disintegrating his skull, giving him serious permanent brain damage, and blowing off a leg.

Image

The kids thank us and sneak out while people are exploding.

Image

BD survives but is now basically a drooling ****** who falls unconscious at the slightest inconvenience.

Image

Christmas :)
10 years have passed since we appeared here btw.

Image

Zoth gets rid of the hunk of stone they used to bypass our defenses.

Image

A space program is established. With transport pods we can launch people to distant areas or send gifts to villages. We'll still need to walk back unless we send resources to build more on the other end though.

Image

We enslave a random traveler who has decent animal skills because I'm sick of them constantly going feral.

Image

Jesus Christ be praised!

Yeah, at the third tier. We've hit Standard so far for the next update. To advance, Vitya needs to signal a boss mechanoid to invade us so we can (hopefully) kill it and scan a chip that it drops. Aside from unlocking new models, there are also new craftable pieces of gear, armor, and implants focused on enhancing your abilities. That said, we're kind of on top of the trash situation now.

Basic
-each bot requires a basic subcore crafted with materials
-dinky shotgun bot
-hauling bot
-cleaning bot
-farmer bot

Standard
-each bot requires a standard subcore created by scanning someone's brain, making them sick for a few days
-long range combat bot
-flamethrower combat bot
-melee combat bot
-mining bot
-nanny bot

High
-each requires a high subcore created by ripping out someone's brain
-crafting bot
-medical bot
-quite a few stronger combat bots

Ultra
-still requires high subcores
-the most powerful combat bots

Episode 16: Vergil Does Something Very Bad

Two new friends arrive on the scene.

Image

A trader arrives and we buy out their components and neutroamine, which can be combined with herbal medicine and cloth to make more efficient medicine.

Image

A prison break is foiled by the guard wolves. How do these idiots break out so often?

Image

Accidentally had a couple dozen eggs hatch in the freezer and the chicks started eating everything in sight.

Image

Starting work on the east wing.

Image

Vergil immediately snaps and starts insulting Rusty while he's trying to get some work done.

Image

Image

Image

He's promptly escorted outside and banished.

Image

As he's leaving, he comes across an ancient monolith and investigates.

Image

Image

The air around him twists and contorts with a vile dark energy. With a flash, he vanishes, never to be seen again. For his trouble, he gets a Turtle Coin!

Image

In unrelated news, a gray pall has set in around our home, filling everybody with a deep sense of unease.

Image

Musa, on the other hand, gets to work. He's baffled by how inefficiently we've been working so far and quickly optimizes our research.

Image

Elias spots some strange veiny trees while he's out hunting. He's certain they weren't there before.

Image

A stocked armor. Could really use a military merchant to take the stuff we're not using off our hands.

Image

Kalarion maxes out his Construction and Building skills, making him the undisputed best builder on the entire planet. He gets a Turtle Coin!

Image

A pack of violent groundrunners gets gunned down.

Image

Kirsten tries to escape and gets a rifle butt to the skull for her effort.

Image

A shuttle arrives for the prisoner we've been hosting, followed by drop pods containing our reward.

Image

And then we get a quest to babysit a crippled kid. At least he can't try to escape!

Image

This'll go on to kill several turtles, bringing our population down to a measly 100 or so.

Image

A nice little harvest festival.

Image

A reliquary is set up for the HQ Platinum. Very nice looking!

Image

Vitya discovers he can use the communications console to goad advanced boss mechanoids into attacking us. By researching their remains he thinks he can discover advanced mechtech.

Image

Image

This has has a super powerful cannon with a large AoE blast.

Image

Everybody loads their armor piercing magazines in the courtyard and prepares for a fight.

Image

Elias gets gets the first shot off with his .50 cal rifle. It's enough to put a small crack in the Diabolus.

Image

Image

It comes within battle rifle range and hundreds of bullets bring it down. With the open field it had to advance across and its limited range, it didn't pose much of a threat.

Image

Image

A stray bullet also caught this colossus which we had to take out too.

Image

Our only loss was BD's nose. He'll be joining the artificial nose crew.

Image

Vitya studies the chip recovered from the Diabolus and we research the technology. It'll take a while to get the new machinery up and running.

Image

A room with a deathrest casket has been set up for Elias. Big plans for the room behind it too, but we'll need some gold.

Image

Dorfleet's Wife develops Alzheimer's. Getting old sucks.

Image

The trash compactors have been running non-stop since we built them. Getting rid of the trash bags is nice, but then we still have to deal with the compacted trash bricks. Boon gets the idea to use mass amounts of them to create sculptures. Maybe someone will buy them?

Image

Progress on the east wing. Another bathroom, storage room, and half a dozen new bedrooms. Another entrance to the base has been set up as well.

Image

Vitya senses that I need a way to finish this update and summons an even tougher boss.

Image

This is a War Queen, and she has a much more powerful entourage.

Image

Image

For reference, this is about the range Elias can engage at, and those two dead melee mechanoids in the middle are about where the automatic riflemen can reach.

Image

Those pikemen have exceptional range. One of the militors is destroyed and a wounded Elias ducks back to reload and bait them in closer.

Image

The Queen advances and starts gestating swarms of chaff bots that rush into close range and soak up fire.

Image

Image

And yet the day is ours. The pikemen started disintegrating our distraction turtles which helped quite a bit.

Image

This fight left us with a lot more injuries. Vitya loses his ******* nose too. We really need to start making helmets with full coverage, this is ridiculous. He gets a Turtle Coin for constantly summoning evil robots to kill us.
