Is there something that can be done for the miner in the Iron Throne mine in the Cloakwood that asks to be killed? I have no one that can cast Cure Disease or similar to know if it would help him, and don't recall if I ever had the possibility.
I think I recall the bard miner (Canticle I think he is called, alwasy breaks my heart when he says he can no longer sing) having some sort of after dialogue once free, but I might yet again be mixing things with Icewind Dale 2 in some way.

If your party's thief starts pickpocketing and lockpicking everything will a paladin be negatively effected or end up leaving the party?

I remember reading they could lose their powers in the manual if villainous deeds were performed... but I think that was purely based on if your party's reputation value fell too low.

From what I recall killing innocents and low reputation is what impacts a paladin, though I am not sure if it's only if they do the act themselves or if they get affected by the actions of other party members. What I CAN say is that alignment is important and being too far on the good spectrum will cause evil aligned (besides Baeloth) party members to leave after it is not "corrected" in time or kept at least somewhat neutral, same goes for being too evil with good aligned characters. Ajantis will also confront evil aligned party members if kept together in the group with them too long, while other characters (like Jaheira and Xzar/Faldorn or Dynaheir and Edwin) will clash on their own through special interactions they have a chance of having.
I think also true neutral characters will leave if one or the other opposites are higher as that is not the balance they strive for.

Wanted to ask, is there a difficulty that lets party members be permanently dead if killed (no resurrection option)?
I chose Core Rules for my playthrough but I decided to not resurrect anyone that dies in battle and, though it has been very fun so far, I would be interested in rising the difficulty if there is one that does that in-house. I would be disabling the damage multiplayer though, as I prefer everyone to be on an even field, and adding things like more health to enemies "just because" or things like that makes me think of how some games think difficulty means either more damage or bullet sponge bosses, which is not what I would have in mind for a difficulty increase.

There are no mods to do that that I'm aware of, although if hit with enough damage ("chunking") sometimes a character is permanently killed. You can also remove the dead character from the party if they are dead to achieve the same effect. Removing a greyed out character from the party permanently kills them.

If you want a difficulty increase, check out Sword Coast Stratagems. It changes enemy AI and significantly increases the difficulty of some boss fights. I'd be really judicious with what you install from it.

Thank you, will stick to what I am doing then
I thought there was a difficulty for perma-death to be the norm, but I am probably mixing things up. As for removing dead party members, it's what I have been doing, though I prefer to do it in a nice place if I can so as to have a sort of "funeral" for our companion (as the bodies are permanently left behind after doing that). The combat feels much more meaningful this way too.

Edit: did not see the edit.

Will play as-is for the Adventurer Guild's run, but will certainly look into this mod afterwards, thank you for sharing!

Mostly still at level 2. We're roaming the countryside gaining some levels before trying to tackle the mines in the south or investigating the city of Baldur's Gate to the north.

Does anyone know where is the "trigger point" (cursor becoming a circle) to make the wine in Durlag's tower? This is one of those little things that keep haunting me every playthrough, I can never recall where should I place the repair piece for the machine.

Heya. I did the original with some mods from Tweaks Anthology. Skipped many quests and TotSC as I'd played BG1 recently. Got to about 80k xp before the end.

Had fun playing a Lawful Stupid Paladin. Xzar got wiser and turned Cleric, Imoen was an Illusionist. Ambushes were some of the most entertaining moments, next time I play one of these I'll increase the travel and rest spawns by a lot.

Any advice for someone who's never played BG1 or 2? Or played AD&D, which I think is what BG1 and 2 are based on?
Skyrim Belongs to the Nords.
Geek the Mage first.
There is no virtue in extending mercy to those who want you dead.

Start with a fighter. Maybe a paladin if you're feeling frisky. It's pretty straight forward and you can learn nuances of other classes via companions, but you're not stuck with them if they don't float your boat.

You want AC to be a lower number. An armor rated at AC 0 is better than one rated at AC 8.

Why did a Lesser Basilisk just evaporate my party one by one? It was like they were being hit by a laser or something.

As this might be your first time seeing this happen there is a way to heal your companions, don't lose hope! It will also happen quite often unless you find a way to "counter" it. I prefer to let people discover on their own, but I had a friend that was quite distraught at this, so I hope you know it is part of the game and the adventure!

It was a random encounter from travelling between areas. I was just shocked that something like this could happen. Everything up until that point was pretty smooth.

Is the side quest "The Mage's School" in need of some special requirements to be completed? I explored the whole of Ulcaster's dungeon, freed the spirits, and even spoke with the bard as I arrived, but I don't recall ever having been able to complete it.

Yeah, I'm already picking up that encounters go smoother if you are properly prepared. Definitely adds another layer to the exploring. And some extra chore work, but that's fine by me as it adds tons of immersion.
Hopefully **** like this doesn't get too repetitive by the of the story.

There is a book in the ruins, while it's in your inventory keep talking to the spirit till he takes it

Will go take a second look then, thank you!

Edit: I confuse the ruins at the ruined bridge to be linked with this quest, thank you for helping me clear this up
