That was cancelled ages ago, the lead programmer left before it even got started. I don't know if Chucklefuck benefited from any of the tax breaks they were going to receive for making the game. Not sure it even got past the mock-up stage.

As far as I understand, he got upset that his videos weren't getting 7 trillion views and @Tweed deleted them all and stopped making them

Honestly what was Tweed expecting.Video game commentary videos are extremely saturated. Maybe if you’d tackling a trendy topic you can numbers out of the gate from YouTube algorithm.



Other than it’s a crap shoot in gaining traction. General advice from YouTubers is that you need to gets notice
is to do content that already been made but done extremely well or do content that’s wholly unique which that haven’t been done/ very little converge in that subject

Starbound was so oddly erratically incompetent.

I hated the matter manipulator sounds so much.
Why does it sound like an axe chopping when you're slowly massaging a tree to death, ffs.
And then they give you pickaxes that are ridiculously able to go through dirt like it's soap bubbles because the MM sucks so bad at mining... retardation.

The art and sound is (generally) what sells this game. Whoever did them was an expert.
The actual game-making people were inept AF.

They put so much effort into terrestrial base-building in a game where you supposed to always be on the move exploring new planets in the mobile base they just give you. It's pretty clear they were copying elements they liked from other games without understanding why they worked in those games.

Did they ever go through with the monster training system or did they drop that because it was too hard for them? I stopped following Starbound long before official release.

The first builds of the game had boss fights, requirements to go into certain solar systems, a good gear progression but they decided to **** it up and add quests, history the new space cowboy made of energy race.
They ****** it up.
