I asked the *same dude* about these comments and why they changed it, his answers, he is running damage control on steam:

don't know the reasons behind the design decisions.
Overall: Kingdom Come: Deliverance was always about the freedom of choice within the means of a designed story and history.

The answer I have given 8 years ago was not from Daniel Vávra himself who created Henry, but from me as a community manager to justify design decisions in the front of legit customer requests in the same way as you do now.

If there are options, we rather have more options than less options.
It was not our goal to make the most based game on the internet, but to follow a vision.
Funding back then was incredible hard, and KCD1 is full of compromises. There is no blacksmithing, no crossbows, no skill trees for polearms.
It was never our goal to make Henry straight because we wanted to exclude gay people.
We simply had to make the game like we did, because we had to follow the vision of it and we had no ability to write extra content, because it would have taken away from the core elements of the game.
With KCD2 this wasn't such a problem, so we can afford additional content which we never could have done in 2014. And if we can have more options instead of less options, just because some people like these options. We rather take more options.

My comment back then was not meant as a political dog whistle. People are people, we embrace them all, we are not here to pick sides in a culture war. And we were not 8 years ago when I wrote the other statement.
They still sat down, in a meeting room, and decided to ADD black & gay to the game, that didn't have it already.
They then committed resources to implementing specifically that, rather than anything else they could have been doing.

Why?

I'm guessing it was the same old routine of someone getting paid good money to push "the message." But maybe there is more to it.
Well they're hardly some new and naive studio are they lol.
They went through all this back during KD1 dev, with all the journos and **** ragging on them for NOT having these things.

So this time they INTENTIONALLY and fully knowing what it all involved (controversy from both sides), sat down and decided to add them.
It wasn't a happy accident. They literally sat there, decided to add a gay scene, allocated resources, and implemented it, lol.
This wasn't an oopsie, they even tried to hide it.

I wouldn't necessarily have problem with gayfag **** in KCD 2 as long as it's just one or two NPCs TOPS and as long as people react to it as people would have at the time. Giving you possibility to play as ****** Henry is bridge way too far, and having some ******* ****** too.

I wouldn't put it past (((Vavra))) that they **** up things with Theresa too, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they make Henry into a **** and Theresa into cheating *****, as she and the romance was afaik really liked by the players, and found it pretty wholesome.

Not sure what they think the game plan is for lying though...

Think about it... lets say there was no ***/fem/****** crap in the game and all of this "claimed" stuff was really just ****** throwing tantrums trying to tank the game.

So the game comes out, people realize there isn't any of that in it and this will cause a "massive" backlash in the people going out to buy the game. So sales on release might dip, but then rebound quickly after the information gets out. The company doesn't lose anything other than the delay in sales.

From the opposite position though, if the game does have this crap in it, there is a benefit in it being played down so people don't truly find out UNTIL it has been out a while, people have ran past the return timers, etc... and then there is the sucker punch of "LOL Based, *** supporter!" (aka BG3's bait and switch).

Not saying this supports him being right or wrong, but I just don't see the point in this tactic by the ******.

Tbh, the "woke" result is honestly impressive considering the fact that the poll was heavily biased in favor of "not woke" from the beginning, because only ******* use social media.

I've never had a Twitter account and rid myself of all other accounts on major platforms over a decade ago.

I was like... LOL screw that, what kind of idiot plasters all their personal information online and then attaches all their comments, pictures, etc.. to it? Are people stupid?

[SPOILERS] I've had the occasion to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, it's worse that you think.
Hello everyone,

As a representative of a French media outlet specializing in gaming (one of the most well-known in France), I had the opportunity to review a copy of the game for our YouTube channel.

Of course, Warhorse Studios has set clear guidelines on what we’re allowed to show, but as a gamer first and foremost, I feel it’s important to share my honest impressions of the game based on my experience so far. The review copies provided by Warhorse are not final versions and come with certain limitations, so keep in mind that changes could still be made. Additionally, I won’t disclose any information that could reveal my identity or the media outlet I work for.

As of now, I’ve played a total of 50 hours since receiving the copy two weeks ago. While some rumors circulating about the game are false, others hold some truth. I’m not passing judgment on whether these are good or bad; I’m simply sharing the information for you to interpret as you wish.

First Hours of the Game (No Apparent DEI)

The game begins with a dramatic and intense sequence. While traveling to Kuttenberg, you’re ambushed and robbed by bandits. This event also results in your separation from Hans Capon. You later regain consciousness by a riverbank, stripped of all your belongings, which sets the stage for your initial campaign missions. These missions involve gathering basic equipment like armor and a sword while unraveling the reasons behind the attack. Without diving too deeply into spoilers, I’ll say that this portion sets a strong tone for the rest of the game.

Interestingly, there’s a subtle nod to the first game in this sequence, with some dialogue referencing Henry's earlier exploits. These small callbacks will definitely resonate with returning players, and explain KCD I for those who have not played it.

10-20 Hours Into the Game (Musa introduction in Kutna-Hora)

This is when Musa makes his appearance. Musa is a member of Sigismund’s royal court and part of the invading force, serving as a siege-master (similar to the character you meet in Sasau in the first game). He plays a crucial role in the storyline and campaign missions throughout the game. Musa is portrayed as an educated, noble, and intelligent siege-master from the Kingdom of Mali.

20-50 Hours Into the Game (Same-gender romance)

As the game progresses, it becomes clear that Warhorse has leaned into providing more diverse storylines and character interactions. By the third part of the game, after reaching the second map, players are given the option to pursue same-gender romance arcs. For example, there’s a scene where you can kiss Hans Capon after completing a specific mission. This mission involves retrieving the keys to Trotsky’s castle jail and orchestrating his escape.

It’s worth noting that your ability to unlock this romance arc depends heavily on your "reputation" with Hans Capon. In my playthrough, I wasn’t able to trigger this earlier because I didn’t invest enough in building a positive relationship with him during the early stages of the game. This adds a layer of replayability, as your choices and interactions directly affect the storyline.

I hope this gives you a clearer idea of what to expect from the game based on my playthrough so far. Feel free to ask questions!
