Even if he did not believe in it, he is one of 230 and most of them will be influenced by demands from embracer. Most Video game devs are woke as ****, maybe he as well still "wants to be based" but caved into this "is that really bad as a option" narrative and all.

In movies, TV shows and videogames, Blackrock money is pretty much the ONLY money available. You bend to their DEI demands or you get no loan for your project.

I do believe it’s possible to be completely self funded without the reliance on DEI/ BlackRock money but requires those games to be significantly smaller in scope which I’m in favour for. Unfortunately a lot developers feel differently and willing to compromise on their vision for increase budget.

I think maidenhaver is probably close. I might even round up to 200 Million. Their saving grace vs something like Bioshit is they are all living in a poor country and can pay peanuts but as we learned with CDPR - that quickly defoliates the bigger you get in as a game developer.
