Interesting that dwarves seemed to have shed the parts people didn't like which is what modern incarnations of gnomes are made of, but elves just become more of what people didn't like.

Dwarves are probably the most liked fantasy demihuman race I'd guess.

Because they are perfectly balanced - they like to kick ***, they like to worship, they like to **** and party. One thing I don't like is playing against them on Warhammer Total War as a vampire. They have no toleration for that ****.

That's just a bit tautological, since being short is how you become a dwarf. The fantasy incarnation just distinguishes them further by adding the hole-digging. Which I also resemble.
