Install homm3, as long as it isn't the steam version. Then, install horn of the abyss 1.7.2. Then start the game, click new game, click multi-player, setup your mp account.

EDIT: Also I'm one of the weirdos actually liking four, if that is of interest down the line, but I am happy to play 3 as well.

It adds 2-3 new factions, and a new building or two for each town. There aren't any balancing changes, that I'm aware of.

I'm a father with kids and a dog so sudden interruptions can happen and they do need my time from time to time, though my work is relatively flexible I can squeeze turns in between as I work from home. Realistacally speaking I am available from 3 am to to 2pm EST. (~9 am to 8 pm on my end ) Though as long as I get a day or two ahead I certainly can play until ~6 pm EST (which is midnight for me), not every day though.

It should not depend on me, if you find many players on the American side of world then you don't have to bend yourself into a pretzel to make it work for me.

We are timewise just not aligned that well.
