Is the Unofficial Patch required in some way, or can I play without? I recall last time I played this game the Unofficial Patch changed it drastically from the first time I played it, changing things from the main menu to the text font and more, and I deeply disdain these "fixes". Asking now for the future as I don't want to start a new playthrough with the same bitterness I had last time after going through the files to break the "patch" apart and restore as much as I could by hand.
Edit: as an added, I am aware the newer Unofficial Patch has divided the changes in optional etc, but from my experience with similar patches for other games, "optional" is just "the most evident changes" that they would get caught adding without input otherwise, and leaving things like "fixed the music!" (which means "added edited and cleaned audio of the music the modder likes best over the functional original that did not need edit").
Wesp5 took the feedback of his patch adding too much to heart AFAIK, the basic unofficial patch should just be bug-fixes and stuff at this point.
That is wonderful news, thank you!

Sorry for double post, I just found out I have Bloodlines installed and ready on my other pc. As I see it as an oportunity, I will not wait and will start to play this one too while my pc gets fixed.
Just as I did with my first playthrough of this game, I went for the survey and I got Toreador, which I find incredibly amusing because my first character was Nosferatu XD I had hoped to play Nosferatu again for old times' sake, but, in the spirit of the Adventurer' Guild to trying new builds, I will stick with the results

Toreador with maxed out Firearms and Celerity is one of the most OP builds in this game.

Was right in deciding to not go for melee for this playthrough then! Was always under the impression that ranged was very weak when I played before, will be good to try something new!

Remember that you can switch fire-modes for some guns (default key is Tab, I think). This will turn your automatic shotgun actually automatic and will turn the Anaconda revolver into a faster-firing more powerful version of the automatic shotgun.

Beautiful, thank you for sharing! Might actually spend more time tinkering with guns than exploring at this rate XD

Remember that fan-fire on the Anaconda makes the accuracy even worse and don't throw out the ****-15. It will be a mainstay when you get it, remember to switch fire modes as necessary. Don't bother with the flamethrower, as deadly as it is (to you) it eats too much ammo for the costs.

The flamethrower is pretty useful for bosses. It'll take out a significant chunk of their health and save you ammo for your other main weapons.

Can't recall if its the case here too, but I like damage over time weapons (hit and then sit back, relax and enjoy the show) though for this game I prefer to go all out as I recall bosses here being very nasty and speedy, so every moment I spend holstering the flamethrower would be a moment lost where I could have used a bullet instead. But we'll see!

In all of my latest playthroughs I tried using the flamethrower on bosses but the hit detection and feedback are garbage. I genuinely couldn't tell if I even hit the enemy with the stream of fire. And the ammo runs out nearly instantly.
Fan-fire mode removes the mandatory delay between shots for the Anaconda. You shouldn't be using it for long-range at all. The AUG is a much better option for that. But, yes, keeping the SPAS-15 on you is good just because you'll have more ammo overall.
The MAC and the Uzi are useless, as is the .38 revolver. The Glock is okay-ish, but the Deagle is on par with the Anaconda, except you get it much, much later.

Wanted to ask, is it said in-game who is Vandal (bloodbank guy) the ghoul of? Can't recall if they say or not, but replaying now that I know a bit more of World of Darkness made me realize he might be Malkavian from his ramblings about numbers. Always liked the guy, and if he's Malkavian might mean some interesting interactions if playing as one knowing how this game likes details, just that would be worth another playtrough for me after this one.

He mentions something along the lines of the ice queen or something to that effect depending on what you talk to him about. I think it might be in one of the quests you can trigger.

It's also mentioned in an email or two. If you check the computers in the blood bank and Voerman's office.

Sorry for yet another question, but wanted to ask as I can't recall, is there some way to increase the effects of Bloodbuff? Though I thought I wouldn't for this run, I find myself exploring every nook and cranny again but putting points in firearms prevents me from adding them to things like hacking and lockpicking. Losing on some hacking is fine, but it would be a shame to not be able to get through some doors (I can live with that, just wanted to make sure so as to know I can focus on something else).

You can't level it up, but there is an artifact or two that enhance it (lower Blood cost/longer duration).
If I recall correctly, with Bloodbuff your Dexterity/Agility is set to/increased by 4 or 5 points. This is what gives you the bump to lockpicking. So you can put just a couple of points into the other skill that contributes to the Lockpicking level and still open all but the hardest locks.

Found something peculiar, a non-interactible bloodpack spawned in front of the door of the first safe heaven (the one above Trip's shop) when doing the bounty hunter assignment to check for "Muddy". Not sure what it is, but every game I am playing or re-playing for the Adventurer's Guild has been quite special. I even got permanently stuck in a door during the tutorial, it is incredible XD

Sorry for usual double post , I installed Bloodlines on the now working pc, but the Unofficial patch gave me two .exe files alongside the GOG one. Every single one seems to play the game fine from my testing, but is there one I should be using specifically, or can I just continue using the GOG launcher-thing?

I've been using the GOG Galaxy launcher for every playthrough with both the Unofficial Patch Only and the Unofficial Patch Plus mods and had no problems with either.

Just booted it up again and it works fine with the Unofficial Patch.

Is there some way to disable the console from popping up? I was having a conversation and accidentally hit the \ key and now I will have to reload from who knows where because everything is frozen  Will be good to know for the future when it will, inevitably, happen again.

It has been quite a while but I am slowly getting back into playing, and Bloodlines captured me enough to complete it again.
Never played a Toreador, never much used guns until I was forced by the game also, which it all made me not much like the combat in my other, Nosferatu, runs (two, my original one and a "let's revisit" one years later, both times having done the survey at the beginning and being picked as Nosferatu for both), so this time it truly was all new (survey picked Toreador also, which was quite the surprise for how used to playing Nosferatu I am).

Overall, I quite liked the game but disliked many parts of it in my previous runs, and this run was especially bad for me as, playing this while also playing ATOM, made me remember why I usually loathe 3D games that are action type, and the controls and combat made me feel like I was sliding on butter. It became too much and I left it for quite a while as it was truly quite enough, when I tried again and got into the flow of it, though, my love for this game returned. There is still much I do not look forward to doing again if I will replay this game again, but the parts that I do like are always worth it in the end.

All the **** talk about Bloodlines 2 inspired me to do a manic red bull run. Started Thursday night and just now finished. Never actually played a Tremere to completion so went with that. Blood magic is fun but by the end I was just playing a budget Toreador. Strauss is a lad. The only man for the job.
