It's a religious ceremony and even pagans weren't stupid enough to be pro-homosexual and place them on an equal footing.
Marriage is about building a family. I think the types of homosexuals that will complain about not having gay marriage, are the types to complain about LGBT not being prioritised over families.
There's no point trying to appease them to the lengths that it hinders society.

There are numerous things that changes if you are married vs living as a couple. They're stripped of certain rights, of course they'll complain.
I am not sure we can ever make them stop complaining though, it's the same with race/racism, we can end it to 100% but we'll still hear about it like it was the most relevant thing happening because it's such a huge life style and identification thing.
