If graphics are so insignificant, why do you play modern games? Why don't you play "peak gamedesign over graphics" games from snes and alike?
To be fair that there are many normies that have the view what Faceless Sentinel is saying both online and IRL.

Free on Steam:
Daggerfall Unity: https://www.dfworkshop.net/
You can get a free copy of DOS Daggerfall from Steam and a free copy of Daggerfall Unity from the Releases page. Then simply unzip the latest version of Daggerfall Unity to its own folder and point it to the DOS version. Daggerfall Unity will take care of everything else.
DO NOT use the Steam or GoG versions of Daggerfall Unity.
They're both outdated and badly set up.
Download it yourself from the link at https://www.dfworkshop.net/

Steam version of daggerfall is just classic daggerfall, you need it to play DFU.

That's true, but there was a Daggerfall Unity version there as well.
Perhaps they removed it.
Also, if you know what you're doing, you can use any DOS based version of Daggerfall. You just have to make sure it's patched. I believe the GoG version is fine now as well (NOT the Daggerfall Unity on that site, though.)
All you have to do is set up DFU as a portable instance and drop tha DOS "arena2" folder into DFU's GameFiles folder.
You should do this anyway (portable instance with integral arena2 file tree).

1. The standardized use of unreal and other off-the-shelf engines means hardware is no longer being pushed. The visual output (from a technical perspective) is largely the same from developer to developer. Yeah they can add or remove some post-processing, or make a scene more or less complex, and the performance changes accordingly on a set curve, but nobody is coming up with clever tricks to move the curve anymore. It just isn't within the contemplation of these devs when they're making a game, and I doubt they have the skill to do it even if they tried. Developers now are content creators who can't code.
2. Ray-tracing has been a band-aid to mask developer incompetence for the past 6 years. It makes games look 1% better than what a skilled dev could achieve through rasterization, while making them run 40% worse. Ray-tracing might result in more technically accurate lighting and reflections, but the technical accuracy of the computations means jack **** when gaming. The games can look just as good without it. As I said though, it's basically a band-aid for developers because they can just tack it on at a massive hardware overhead cost with minimal work or skill needed, rather than making the game look just as good (and run much better) the old-fashioned way that would require them to actually understand what they are doing.

Sims 4 is literally for *****, LMAO.
Used to be you wanted shapely fuckholes with massive tits/adequate vagina. Now we only lust after the most dysgenic + manly bulldaggers.
But at the end of the day, "The Fuckhole" is still king when it comes to pushing graphical advancements, whether it be Lara Croft or some transhole.
The politiks of sexuality pave the way for technology.

It's a long video so I just want to comment that big budget games almost always use separate shaders for skin, not the default shaders used to render most materials in the world.J1M wrote: β October 1st, 2025, 03:40

Most people I've seen in my life look more like the left render.rusty_shackleford wrote: β October 1st, 2025, 04:05Also I've seen women that actually look like the one on the left so I'm not sure I agree with his assertion. There's definitely a wide range of skin textures(as in actual texture of the skin, not texture for video games.) Perhaps he just does not meet a lot of people with very fair skin? My skin is probably about as matte as that render's(on the left)

The BEST benefit of the doubt I can give him is that maybe he's autistic and the only people he looks closely at are actors in movies under heavy lighting and twenty pounds of makeup.
Best I can do is ***** working on a Deus Ex remaster.Tweed wrote: β October 1st, 2025, 04:35I almost wish some nerds would pick up making new games in Unreal 1. It's a very pleasant looking engine.
