Nuclear Nightmare - The Thing as a multiplayer co-op game

Post by Konjad »

Join your fellow players in assembling an elite extraction team for a thrilling mission to recover classified materials hidden in the harsh Arctic landscape. Gather the necessary supplies to call in an evacuation chopper and make your escape back to civilization. Will you succeed?

Explore a vast open world with a variety of vehicles and trusty huskies to help you navigate the expansive terrain. Earn points to unlock powerful perks at soda machines, discover new suits, and even unlock dance moves! But beware—time is running out. With a devastating nuclear strike looming from the US government to contain the black goo virus, your mission is clear: salvage critical information about the vaccine before it’s too late. Can you beat the clock and complete your mission?

Beware the lurking threat of the black goo virus. In this perilous mission, you must test for infections and stay vigilant—anyone, even your loyal husky companions, could turn at any moment. Manage your resources wisely; each vaccine can cure an infection only once, and your inventory is limited to just five slots.

Scavenge for flamethrowers, shotguns, flare guns, and more to defend yourself against the relentless dangers. Will you make the right choices to survive, or will the virus claim you?

Are you ready to face the "Nuclear Nightmare"?
  • Customize Your Experience: Tailor your world settings to match your unique play style.
  • Unlock Perks: Enhance your chances of survival with powerful perk abilities.
  • Tame Huskies: Train your loyal companions to scavenge for items, guard your location, or alert you to dangers.
  • Navigate the Open World: Drive snowmobiles and fly helicopters to traverse the treacherous terrain.
  • Dynamic Gameplay: Encounter randomly generated events, enemies, items, and scenarios for a fresh experience every time.
Prepare to confront your worst nightmares in "Nuclear Nightmare." The fate of humanity hangs in the balance, and only you can prevent the impending apocalypse. Will you rise to the challenge, or will you become just another victim of this "Nuclear Nightmare"?

The more I play this game the more I like it. It's very atmospheric and can sometimes cause to hold breath or scare quite a lot, especially the moments when you know monster is nearby and you're trying to hide or defend with a bro or two.

A game ago I saw a monster outside behind the window, couched with a shotgun pointed at the door hoping it wouldn't notice me, then it appeared right outside the window and disappeared. I was waiting for a few seconds pointing that shotgun then suddenly door went down with a force and the monster jumped on me before I even managed to press my LMB. That was a great non-scripted jumpscare.

The game is so 'inspired' by The Thing that it's basically The Thing: The Game. It even has the flying saucer and ice cube where the monster was cut out from. In the game you have to complete objectives and then call for rescue, but like in the movie, some of the teammates might get infected and there is a monster wandering about.

The only drawbacks are using UE5, and that experience with random people varies a lot.

Looks like **** on my PC (below screenshots) because I still haven't bought a GPU though.

Played again today, this time with some 2 dudes, went around with one all the time and it was really fun co-oping. With a proper squad mate the game is extremely fun. Apparently, there's also a flying saucer that might take down your helicopter in flight, but we managed to emergency land.
