Junior Adventurer's Guild - October: Deus Ex + Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption SPOOKY HALLOWEEN DOUBLE FEATURE
Seems the consensus to just play the steam version of Deus Ex as is, without using graphical mods or revamps like GMDX?

If the Steam version is the GOTY edition, then yes, i think so. It worked out of the box as-is for me on lunix, anyways.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ December 1st, 2024, 04:52Seems the consensus to just play the steam version of Deus Ex as is, without using graphical mods or revamps like GMDX?

I did not kill anyone in this mission. I only either avoided people, used the minicrossbow tranquilizing darts, or knocked people out from behind with the baton or taser. And yet this guy is calling me a killer? Mind as well just go guns blazing.
I am playing on realistic difficulty, where if I alert someone and they turn around, they will likely shoot me dead within a few seconds. If I use a tranquilizer dart, they can still run around for a few seconds and trip alarms and alert more people. Seems the thing to do is to use tranq darts on guards who are far away from alarms or each other so there is no risk of being detected by others, and to then use the gun in close quarters combat when that is not possible and you can't methodically knock out everyone.
Overall feels like Thief but with a sci fi aesthetic.

How would that guy know what one specific agent did? The UNATCO armory guy will comment on lethality a bit later, which you can use to determine what the game thinks you did.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ December 1st, 2024, 17:56

The office ladies are annoying. I am making my great escape and the scientist men are standing around being chill, while these ladies are running to press the alarms. Making me waste time shooting tranquilizer darts at them and having to body block them until they collapse.

Would someone get a badge if they played the games after the month ended? I'd love to play every single Adventurer's guild sooner or later for the journey of it through the classics, and was wondering if I should post of them or not after time has passed between the end of the month and the time I might start, as, though I am not much someone for profile flair (besides the Santa hat) I was wondering if it might help with site engagement or things like it. I wouldn't mind sharing, but do not want to clutter if it's not necessary :3

Yes, if you beat one of the previous Adventurer Guild games and show it with a screenshots of a cutscene or final scene you get the badge.DagothGeas5 wrote: ↑ December 8th, 2024, 13:58Would someone get a badge if they played the games after the month ended? Sorry for double post, I wanted to ask, I started with Deus Ex as I have it already through a friend's family share on Steam, and just now during the tutorial they took away a candy bar I found inside a pipe (spoiler just in case it is a secret or something) that, though, they had let me keep for a while. Did I miss on an Easter Egg or something by not eating it right away?
Also, thank you @1998 for posting about this exe thing https://kentie.net/article/dxguide/ , the game would not start with sound turned on, but now works like a charm

I think I am nearing the end of the game.

Not sure I want to spare that super computer program for you when your earlier plan of uploading Daedlus backfired. Also, Daedlus apparently revolted. There is no way we can guarantee the loyalty of this AI. It is just as likely it could be planning to off us after we get rid of Page. And wasn't it your organization that landed us in this mess in the first place? If the Illuminati have been guiding/controlling the world for centuries, then aren't they responsible (either by intent or ineptitude) for the dreary, soulless, atomized modern world of the present day? Not sure I want to be part of that. Also, from the way you are phrasing it, it sounds like you want to usurp the Illuminati and leave behind Dowd (yes you mention Dowd later on, but you're talking about just you and I ruling the world). Not sure I can trust you to not stab me in the back for more power. And lastly, I am not fond of your organizational structure of not only being secret, but hiding knowledge and using it as carrot on the stick for progressing further into the cult. Esoteric societies like freemasons are satanic. If you are apart of an esoteric society, then you are hiding knowledge. If knowledge is for good, then you should share it.

Darn, these are the three options I get? They all suck.
- Destroy the internet, killing lots of people by restricting the spread of medical knowledge or techniques on how to build houses that won't collapse on people or safe gas pipelines, etc. Disastrous. Supposedly this will prevent the world from being enslaved by global tyranny (dubious, the US was imperialist in 3rd world countries with no internet access), though people will still be tyrannized by the locals anyways (be it a local king creating local North Koreas, or your local gang taking away your income via protection money so you remain perpetually poor) so this seems like a net loss here.
- Join a group that could supposedly "save" the world, but seems to have been utterly inept for the past hundred years and is made of morally dubious individuals who might not do what they say they're going to do. Net state of the world probably can't get worse than it already is, but is morally wrong to do.
- Decide that the world should be ruled by computer algorithms (yeah we already see how bad of an idea that is IRL). World will almost certainly get worse. Also not a believer in "merging" with computers as if you could live forever like that (or want to in this fallen world).

I think the Malkavian playthrough is overrated. There are some cool things like the conversation with the TV or the stop sign (which I know about from videos) and many characters comment on the character being Malkavian, but I don't think it really works unless you change all of the dialog and have more characters that have things you can only learn via the whispers of madness.
This playthrough was a straight line to see what that would feel like. Ocean House is still one of the best levels ever made. Still don't really understand how you would build a strong character for the combat slogs. Disappointment was immeasurable when the only diversion I made from the main path was to visit the blood bank and the freezers contained no blood packs.

The screenshot is from the final level in LaCroix's tower. (Edit as I missed the subject, I am speaking of Deus Ex, I will play Vampire the Masquerade Redemption once I will buy it from GoG.)
Is there some way to buy or craft lockpicks? There is so much stuff I am finding but I can't explore it. I know you probably are not supposed to get everything open, but if there is some way besides strength, which is one point short for me at the moment, I would love to know, I want to scout!
Also, really loving this game so far, it is so incredibly interactive! Love all the little details. Makes me also think of how this is what it was when someone made a game with love and care, making things interactable or reacting just for the fun of it. Whoever made this game, I believe, had fun doing it and it shows. I am very glad I can play it.

- Become more efficient by investing in lockpicking skill.
- Explosives can destroy many containers.
- Certain weapons are powerful enough to do damage to objects.
I became too brainrotted from modern games to remember objects can be destroyed, will try that until I can get more points into the lockpick skill then, as explosives in this game I have ended up in comedy shenanigans with how I have handled them so far XDJ1M wrote: ↑ December 11th, 2024, 19:42Options:DagothGeas5 wrote: ↑ December 11th, 2024, 19:05(Edit as I missed the subject, I am speaking of Deus Ex, I will play Vampire the Masquerade Redemption once I will buy it from GoG.)
