Sorry for double post, wanted to confirm what I believe Finarfin said about this game.
It is true @Vergil, this is the first I see of this sort of thing, but from the shameless dialogue I suspect it won't be the last NPC that is like this.
Image
The character in question is a pirate captain from a side-quest in Grahtwood (Valenwood place with the Elder Tree city, not sure I am typing the names correctly).
Edit: can't kill her, will retry once I will get the means through skills or the likes, but attacks don't work on her if anyone was wondering.
You can easily tell which NPCs are killable by the way their names are shown. Green is essential, yellow is neutral and killable, red is hostile.
Her name was white in the bar below the compass, is it somewhere else I should be looking for that?

If you enable Nameplates, their names should show above their heads. That would tell you.

See here. White means you have targeted them (you look at them or hover over them) and that usually means you can attack them.

I believe I have nameplates disabled, that could be why I don't see the names. Thank you for the info!

You'll get the occasional "muh wife" in the game, but I figured since at least 99% of the NPC relationships in the game are straight, the gay ones are so infrequent (to a more-or-less statistically accurate degree) as to be easy to ignore.

I still can't stand the lesbians though—in any media, but this is still pertaining to ESO. I think it's because the lesbians come across as a neon sign going "WE'RE LESBIANS," while the significantly rarer gay couples are much subtler and more implication-based or just a lone gay played for laughs, which is how it should be.

Didn't know Vergil had the chance to get a character and dialogue into the game. Seems like he has connections.

I see the standard ESO is available for $5. Is it worth it without the expansions?

I got bored and stopped playing after about 10 hours, but for $5 it might be nice to check it out if you didn't play the open beta. Gameplay is pretty much a boring clone of WoW (questing by yourself, speedrunning dungeons you teleport into, etc) with a different coat of paint.

entire game revolves around animation canceling because the devs were too ******** to fix it and if they fixed it now everyone would break down crying, it makes the combat completely awful

If they fixed the game being balanced around animation cancelling, integrated their storylines better and added a lot of QoL that currently has to be modded in by the community, it would be a decent time-waster. They also have a lot of store content that would make more sense as rewards incorporated into the game. It would probably do better as a private server managed by Skyrim modders than with Zenimax as a developer.

The only thing I really liked from ESO was the crafting styles for armor. I'd like to see that in more games, but I get it's time-intensive.

Haven't played ESO, but animation cancelling would be something like moving your character at the back half of every melee swing after the damage has registered to start the next one more quickly, not a kick that cancels an enemy mage's fireball cast

I think it's more about the fact that it can be done and exists, which might make things like PvP quite unfair for people that do not use, or know about, this sort of thing. I am surprised it is a thing in ESO though! Last I heard of this mechanic it was in fighting games (it even has a specific name in the competitive side of it, but I can't recall what it is at the moment).
