This is a good video game despite being a clunky lag unreal game.

I played the 2D version that was available on Steam prior. I liked the integration of permadeath into the gameplay, with you play through as a dynasty of emperors and his retainers, and if your party wiped the game timeskipped to the next generation who inherit skills from their predecessors. I thought it was also cool that your characters could learn new abilities during battle. But I never finished the game.

I never got around to playing the original, but it seems the remake exceeded what I expected from a modern production.



Sadly, they went for a generic anime artstyle instead of mimicking Tomomi Kobayashi's artwork.
