You didn't find it particularly odd that the last scene is Yonah and Nier playing as kids? :P
No, not even a little bit honestly. It seemed like a pretty standard and obvious flashback to represent that Nier and Yonah being back together again after all the hardships they've gone through. Similar to how it pans to the sky and shows shadowlord Nier and his sister being together in the afterlife showing that they got to be reunited in death as well. Pretty nice and simple happy ending where the heroes struggled and went through the ringer but managed to over come.
Reading about the other endings just reminds me a lot of Persona 2 to be honest. The ending of Persona 2 was fine for what it was an ended on what felt like a bittersweet note and then Eternal Punishment kinda shits on it and makes you play through and entire additional game for a worse less satisfying ending than just leaving it at Innocent Sin. Same situation here.
Roguey wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2024, 12:22
It's my interpretation that Nier being a male prostitute is something that happened to a previous incarnation
Yea there's literally not a single thing in the game (at least on a first, normal playthrough) that supports there being "incarnations" or any sort of cyclical ********. There's one linier story that starts at the intro and ends with ending A. Some pedophile jap telling different is irrelevant to me. Not reading a text adventure about some ****** getting bullied so I can be told the satisfying ending is ACTUALLY wrong and I need to grind the same video game 3 more times to get the TRUE (worse) ending.
Roguey wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2024, 12:22
Game-Nier is way too optimistic, naive, and pleasant to be a traumatized rape survivor (in the story he lets the guy who sodomized him roughly intentionally get killed by shades on a shade-killing expedition).
And speaking of the game not supporting things, yea this straight up just didn't happen. Not only does nothing in the game support this sort of disgusting **** it's actually totally contradicted by Nier needing directions to Seafront and making it obvious he's never been there before. This is literally just some edgy fanfiction tier retcon made after the game because Yoko Ono here is a hack ******. Like Kojima with Paz in Ground Zeroes he probably watched some piece of **** edgy "art" film and decided to throw some edgy "sooo deepfurr" filth to make it "art".

This is absolutely a death of the author (unfortunately not literally, I would greatly enjoy killing Taro if I could get away with it) situation. The game was enjoyable in spite of his involvement not because of it and I reject his stupid ******** whole cloth.

Every jap game director wishes he was actually working in hollywood, they seethe about it and take it out on people who want to play games instead of watching their ~~AUTEUR~~ moviegame. Just stop playing jap games.

Yeah this is stuff that gets revealed in subsequent playthroughs. Layers of an onion that keep getting peeled, more additional context provided.

Grimoire Nier was published a month after the original game's release, so it's part of the original intent and they decided to pull back on it in the game itself or it's something he only decided on late in development when it was too late to change the story in the game, or my interpretation is indeed the one he meant and this happened in a previous lifetime.

Yoko made it into the big leagues when he told a story with the same structure using sexbots as the first and third main characters.

Yea that feels less like layers of an onion being peeled and more like additional ******** being bolted on at the tend to arbitrarily extended the run time. No more "context" needed to be provided. It's like the Star Wars sequels.

If it's not in the game, if it's contradicted by the game, and it comes out of nowhere adding nothing (and in fact detracting) to the story then it simply doesn't belong and is to be ignored. It's obviously trash made up after the fact that should have no bearing on the story. Like fellow jap hack Kojima it's some stupid **** that he came up with after and decided to go back and make the established work slightly worse with.

You're genuinely twisted in the worst ways if you disagree btw that should never be written under ANY circumstances.

It's really not a coomer game though. 2A/2B are no more sexualized than any female protagonist from the 90s or 00s.

Agreed for the second route, but routes 3 and 4 continue the plot. I do feel the story wouldn't have had quite the same impact without the perspective route 2 game, though they could have condensed it substantially.

You're parroting leftist talking points. They're the ones that get offended at attractive (female) characters.

Attractive women boost sales of a product, what a shocking revelation. Guess we should travel back in time and ask famous artists why they didn't make art of the local proto-feminists, instead of good-looking women.

Don't make too big of a deal out of this, both nier games failed or underperformed in sales, so "development" of this is highly unlikely.

The games you're referencing ARE the works of proto-feminists. Lara Croft was hailed as a massive win for female representation in gaming. The creators are on record saying it was created to put women in gaming.
Coomers are the useful idiots for libtards.

Who started the sexual revolution. Who were the bra burners. Who produced and normalized pornogrpahy. Who pushed sexualized media.

You're just another person who thinks history started in the 90s basically. The things you grew up loving were that eras version of woke and the modern day is a natural consequence of it, sorry.

Nah - we both know why she's dressed like that.

I can make the same argument about 2B and say that what she wears is irrelevant, because she's an android that can tank missiles to the face.

Ultimately, if the choice comes down to having attractive female characters or not, I'd rather have them.

What do you mean by hot, humid areas? To me, this sounds like description of tropics, but having skin areas uncovered in tropics is a risks tropical parasite bites, which is very, very bad.

They were both excuses to get Lara to show skin. 2B doesn't even have that, he just put her in a maid uniform because it's his fetish.

How can you pretend the two things are not one and the same? Both design choices were made because the developers knew that attractive women boost sales.

Yoko Taro is no more a coomer than whoever came up with the original design of Lara Croft.
