dork souls was never about the bosses, the game could have no bosses and it would be mostly unchanged
Wrong, it would be better.
Unironically this.

In an ideal world there would still BE bosses conceptually but the entire raison d'Γͺtre behind a lot of them is faulty. They're not meant to be interesting and unique set pieces first and foremost. They're not even really mean to be tests of the skills you've learned along the way. They start with the premise of needing to be difficult and then work backwards in most cases. There's nothing interesting or engaging about that.

I mean what I stated. What exactly is interesting or unique about half the bosses being giant guy who swings a sword with iffy tracking that lets him ice skate to lock onto you?
Not that it's always that bad. Lies of P made me realize just how spoiled I truly was. So far only the Pursuer has given me any problems and once I adapted to him I haven't lost to a boss yet.

Sorry, I misread your post. i thought you meant to say "bosses used to be designed as unique set pieces, but now they are just difficult for the sake of being difficult", and just worded incorrectly.

I still stand by DSII having the most wasted potential, DS1 being the most coherent experience, DeS being the prototype, DS3 feeling like a glorified DS1 DLC and Elden Ring being quantity over quality: the game.

DSII is definetely the ugliest Fromsouls game though. Too bad Stayd's Flames of Old mod was never finished...

DeS isn't just some prototype, it's a great game. It's also a lot more of a 'coherent experience' than DS1, which has blatantly unfinished parts like Izalith.

On its own, sure it is a great game but it is still the baseline from which the rest of the franchise developed...and was arguably even more blatantly unfinished than DS1 (see the Broken Archstone/Northern Limit, the disjointed "teleport to map" excuse for the hub), several archstones being just a boss arena, etc). To be fair, nearly all Fromsoft games (outside maybe Sekiro) are a mess in that regard.

Why didn't the Legion guys just have sex with the women...?

The breeding bit is speculation from the article writer. More likely Jimmy's ****** centurion owner was a power bottom and any penetration reminded him of that.

yeah but at least DeS is not forcing us to play through empty unfinished levels while fighting copy-pasted capra demons. That makes the game feel coherent and consistent.

Like @wndrbr said I like the concept of taurus demons being a regular enemy type in the demon ruins but the location and placement is a problem. There's nothing wrong with the demon ruins being full of demons they had to come from somewhere. But just having them sort of spammed around flat terrain like a gmod map is really underwhelming.
