I like those games where the cracks in the walls have scripted explosions of their own so if you shoot them and you stand too close they kill you.
I think Shogo did it.
I think Shogo did it.
Made it to chapter 3 and the whole **** just took a nose dive in term of quality, as the whole chapter was nothing more than a forced cinematic **** with your typical cringeworthy, cliched writing. At least the game seems to be ending soon, so I think I'm going to finish it.Tinky Winky wrote: ↑ November 13th, 2024, 01:33Playing Drova right now and would probably finish it this week. (I did remember to pirate it so no fund goes to the krautmutts).
Finished NEO: The World Ends With You. Pretty okay low-budget action jrpg for teenagers. I liked the music most of all; the ost is over 3 hours long and it's full of pop, funk, rap, punk, and nu-metal reminiscent of the 00s (17 of the 51 tracks are remixes of songs from the first game so actually from the 00s). Delightful even its obnoxiousness.
Combat's pretty routine for the most part, but I like how creative they get with the bosses near the end. I didn't like at all how three of the final bosses are two-part fights against damage sponges, and if you die in the second part, you have to do the whole thing over again. With regard to the final boss, I died twice in the second phase, and when I beat it on the third try it said my time on that attempt was over 13 minutes. Looking at youtube, the quickest someone's beaten it is 9. Don't think it would have killed them to provide a checkpoint after the first phase.
As for the story, it was written by a woman and it's totally obvious. Very effeminate and emotional with that slight Japanese liberalism. Perhaps some of the libtard lines are lolcow-alization, but I'm sure some of it's inherent. The most egregious examples, minus one curry cook fretting that he's committing cultural apporpriation (I accidentally hit next before I could take the screenshot):

Of course I don't mind those second two pics. I also found the Cony Cony siblings absolutely alluring and you better believe I bought all the gothic lolita clothing in their store (it only affects stats, not visuals, still had to have it).

NEO is notorious for having one of the worst localizations ever committed.Roguey wrote: ↑ November 15th, 2024, 02:20As for the story, it was written by a woman and it's totally obvious. I've been playing Soulash I, but there's literally no "point" to it, other than being a murderhobo simulator. This is ******* boring, but hey that's most roguelikes for you.
Going to play Soulash II, which I hear is more of an "empire of one" simulator. There has to be some reason the ******** are all fired up over this guy, but I ain't seeing it yet.

Finished Zero Wing, the meme game. Not particularly good; some of the levels are much too narrow, and there's some obnoxious timing-based trial and error in one of the final levels.
Finally finished this in about 16 hours (including reloads). The later chapters turned out to be just as bad as chapter 3. You got a puzzle dungeon, then an objectively ****** spider maze filled with scripted trash mob encounters, another puzzle dungeon, and finally cinematic ********. Like they want to imitate classic gothic games so much, they copied the ******* horrible late game from them and made it even worse.Tinky Winky wrote: ↑ November 14th, 2024, 16:46Made it to chapter 3 and the whole **** just took a nose dive in term of quality, as the whole chapter was nothing more than a forced cinematic **** with your typical cringeworthy, cliched writing. Overall, I give this a solid 6/10. Core game mechanics like combat are fine, not so much wokeness, and the game is well balanced (you don't have to explore every nook and cranny; the game simply handed over endgame equipment to you as you progressed the main quest). But on the other hand, the writing is absolutely horrible (literally one of the only few games that gave me a cringe), side quests are 80% fetching crap, and exploration just isn't fun (you can't neither jump nor vault, so you'll find yourself being blocked by totally-not-railroading natural barriers all the time, which is why I've barely explored the whole world). Okay for a playthrough if you like gothic games (again, remember to pirate it so you don't fund krautmutts), but I don't think I'll ever touch this again.

It's a decent game, I don't like the secrets that are just hidden doors you had no way of knowing are hidden beyond smashing the interact key the entire time.

I've been playing Path of Achra for a while now. It's highly Robert E. Howard/Clark Ashton Smith feeling in its scope. The dev is a poet/linguist/historian if I remember right. Anyways, it's an odd game. Some even call it more of a "clicker" type game than anything, but it's still oddly addictive. I can't wait for the dev's next project, which seems to be focused on conquest/warfare.
I was toying with The Chronicles Of Myrtana - Archolos to get it setup for 7830 x 1440 resolution with Triple monitors. Game looks awesome, very.. "Imuursive", but... the health bar and the various quest /update text shows up on the far left monitor...
Has anyone toyed with moving around the HUD? I checked some various mods and the like, but nothing deals with actually "moving" the elements over.
Is it possible? A quick run thorough the files and I don't see anything specific to change this, is it possible or is it hard fixed on its position to the resolution?

Can't figure out how to screenshot this (don't have a 3rd party installed, windows doesn't work, and the ini doesn't have a setting), but this is what Gothic II looks like:

It just sucks with the Hud health bar being all the way at the left corner, also the inventory comes up on the right screen, so it isn't ideal in that respect. The games that I have been able to adjust the HUD to center look great (was able to get KotOR to look great and play great aside from a couple minor issues.
It changes the game if the FOV isn't really bad (and the game is designed with it in mind, ie.. DA:O looks great, but the view port obviously cheats the intended area to be viewed which makes running it past a certain point counter to play.
For the games that work well, amazing experience.
I was holding off on playing this (never actually did) because I wanted the "perfect" experience due to my love of Gothic I/II/Risen. I had planned to get my monitors setup right, HUD, and also convert all the voice dialog over to English with AI (adjusting all the voices to different types), but that turned into a major pain in the rear (paywalls and other various hassles). I settled with Polish voice over and was trying to get the HUD right, but I may just have to "deal" with the health and various screens being pushed to the outside. It isn't too bad if you aren't constantly having to turn your head, but it can be impractical with some games.

Finished Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. Yep, downgrade in every way. Art style is dark and dull, story is dour, combat's even more of a meat grinder because they changed the system so that you're expected to one-shot enemies with obliteration/ultimate/steel on bone/ninpo techniques as much as you can, and even when I got the hang of it, these battles still took forever. Didn't like the QTE parts, but at least they were considerate enough to put in checkpoints. Final boss was annoying and exhausting. On the plus side, they still included a bit of jiggle and fan service.

Playing Nier Replicant. Pretty charming little game so far, I appreciate that even though it's a recent remaster it still has the absolutely insane bloom levels of a game from that era. Gameplay is a little simplistic so far and I'm not too sure if it's ever going to get much more complicated but we'll see. So far there's light and heavy attacks and you don't really have combos when you alternate between them like something in Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?
