Hi, so, uh. Something that's always made me pretty uncomfortable about the game is the designs for Sceleritas Fel and Ethel's Hag form. Specifically, they utilize design tropes that have a pretty long history in the context of villain designs in art, animation, and games—and that history is steeped in bias and hatred against people like...Well, me! And my community! And like, I do want to clarify that this mod is not actually about real-world issues, and is meant to fit within Nexusmods' policy about those issues. The mod itself is just edits to their models for my own personal comfort, and there's nothing included in the mod beyond those mesh edits.

But, at the same time, I do want to point out the reasons I made these edits in the first place. And it's because looking at the designs for those characters stings a bit, honestly—these design tropes were originally used to villainize my people. I don't think doing the same was Larian's intention; again, these design elements have a very long history, and that history often goes under the radar. I was actually taught in university that these tropes mark good villain design, and that they're related to audience expectations and the concept of appeal in animation, from teachers I still really love and respect. Not everyone is aware of that history!

Again, ultimately, this is just a personal comfort mod. And I'm releasing it for anyone who might want it for their own comfort, too.

But I am going to link this breakdown of these tropes in the context of fantasy/goblin designs, just, to give some context on why these designs make me uncomfortable, and why I made these edits.

They are such insecure and damaged people that they think playing on an easier difficulty in a cRPG necessarily represents a failure of theirs as a person, so your genuine and helpful suggestion is taken as like calling them ******** and "gatekeeping" since they think it's a "right" of theirs to play on the hard difficulty and succeed. They say they only want story, but are entitled and damaged and feel bad to play on a lower difficulty.

Notice how Nexus removed the "cheats and god items" category or whatever it was called a while ago. Almost no cheat mods were in it anyway, so it was basically useless. These people think it's an insult to call something a cheat, they are a cheater failure if they use a cheat in a single player video game. Cheats bad. I used cheats when possible and needed as a kid trying to play games made for way older people that I couldn't always figured out, never felt bad about it once apart from disappointment in myself if I couldn't figure something out.

These people don't do that, it's the game's fault and not their own failure if they can't win. Failure is not an obstacle on the road to success or part of the fun inherent to a game, but to be avoided at all costs, as it is in the rest of their lives and upbringing (e.g you can graduate USA high school now without even knowing how to read, there was someone who sued their high school over it for not teaching them to).

This is also why difficulties all have different names than Easy, Normal, Hard now. None of them will play on an Easy difficulty. Apparently the renaming doesn't work, as they won't play on a Casual or Story difficulty either.

Gotta be honest, I play some games on easy. Especially if I never played, so I could get familiar on everything and then eventually change to normal.

nah Frostbite engine is terrible for modding.Even 50+ volunteers working for a year wouldnt be able to fix much, the best you cant get is race swaps and good looking npcs/outfits
