So, this is a new RPG (TBA), apparently made by Bioware's old guard. That would be promising, but the main character is apparently (at least for now) set as a woman of indeterminable race (and sexuality, let's be real here). What says the racists and misogynists of rpghq?

Oh cool the same people who slowly threw the company into a toilet are making slop that already puts mutt holes front and center? I'm so excited!
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

The old guard is incapable of making good games anymore. Every time they announce a new game from the developers of [insert legendary game here] it ends up being dogshit. The entire western industry collective lost it a long time ago. Never get hyped for games again.

The tidbits about their setting they were posting sounded pretty interesting, but the game itself looks as generic as possible. Humanity leaving earf, ancient aliens, gruff space marines. It's like someone took every scifi show and videogame in existence, and then them blended together using some generative AI tool.

The only interesting thing they have is the time dilation mechanic they pocketed from Interstellar.

If you're interested in the Ultima games, it's best to start at Ultima 4. The first three are just novelties.

It's funny, isn't it? How we grow up and some things that we loved now has barely any meaning, like reading the Canterbury Tales.

Ultima 4 and beyond makes me wonder if Richard Gariott was a boomer hippie at some point. "Whoa dude, gotta like...spread peace & love throughout Britannia, because like, it's good?...Oh but actually it's not good, if it like goes too far so we gotta keep an eye on that...and like, your character is totally racist against those gargoyle demons which is totally way uncool man"

Posted in another topic and was directed here. For those who are curious (yes, I share the suspicion, but this one at least looks MassEffect-ish, I want to see before judging), so for the curious here is the summary about the game so far (by Perplexity):

Setting and Story

Exodus takes place in a future where humanity has fled a dying Earth and found a new home in a hostile galaxy. Players take on the role of the Traveler, humanity's last hope for survival. As the Traveler, your mission is to steal alien weapons and technology from powerful beings called the Celestials, who are humanity's greatest enemy.

Gameplay Features
  • The game is described as a next-generation, story-driven RPG that combines cinematic storytelling with player agency and modern AAA gameplay.
  • A key mechanic is Time Dilation. When the Traveler goes on interstellar missions, days for them are decades back home. This creates far-reaching consequences for the player's choices.
  • Players will face impossible choices as the visionary leader of their people.
  • The game will feature companions who are crucial to success. Players must search for potential allies and choose them wisely.
  • Combat will involve customizable abilities through an advanced alien technology called the Orion Gauntlet.
  • Missions can be approached in multiple ways, including stealth, diplomacy, or combat.
The Protagonist
  • The player character is known as the Traveler.
  • Traveller is fully customizable (including gender) and voiced.
  • Traveller begins as a simple salvager scavenging ancient tech from ruins on the homeworld.
  • The Traveler becomes a legendary explorer of distant stars and worlds, hunting for ancient Celestial tech and weapons.
  • As the Traveler, players will make choices that have profound impacts on their civilization, relationships, and the course of human history.
  • Traveller has a mentor figure, voiced by Actor Matthew McConaughey. The mentor is described as giving the player "insight to the decisions you've made and will be making moving forward"
Development and Release
  • Exodus is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by veteran RPG creator James Ohlen.
  • The game is inspired by titles like Mass Effect, Halo, and The Last of Us.
  • Exodus is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game promises to offer a unique experience where players can witness the long-term consequences of their choices, potentially spanning generations, through the innovative use of the Time Dilation mechanic

I noticed this in the trailer, definitely one of the more interesting aspects of the story if done right.

It does sound interesting and very sci-fi. Should not be excited by now with so many burns (I say gamers got those burns to the second degree already) but I am. There are some glimpses of hope - if the current trend of dialling down on agenda continues and developers get the hint we might get an interesting game.

I'd rather die alone and hated by everyone than willingly go along with their sick vision of the future.
Was that extremist enough?

Has there been gameplay for the game? The game sounds interesting but I would like to see how it actually plays.

I get that the game probably still in late pre production phase but it would be nice to show like any gameplay, since there showcasing everything else but the most important part.
