This guy made a lot of funnies few years ago dedicated to first DoW and it expansions, had almost a full-on cinimatic universe of his own there. Too bad most of it wasn't translated.

Is Egyptian mythology part of WH 40K or is Horus' name unrelated?

Somewhat longer answer: WH40K constantly name-drops from a bunch of well-known mythological scenes for naming big characters.

All of the Custodes appear to be named after well-known emperors (primarily Roman), for instance. The Blood Angels include a lot of names or derivatives of angelic beings from Catholic theology. The Thousand Sons are Egyptian-inspired. And so forth.

Thanks. I've watched a ton of videos on WH 40K lore but I can't remember much of it. I can't remember if it shares our history or even has Earth as a homeworld. I think the latter might be true at least.

Edit: I do remember there is a time where the whole of humanity (at it's peak) nearly dies out and loses all knowledge.

I don’t know why people say the imperium are the bad guys .If were judging the reality of what’s in the 40k universe there actually the good guys. Now it’s absolute living hellscape for most people but the alternative is far worse.

Been watching this guy's videos when they pop up in my recommended feed. Good to have on in the background when you're doing something but do find myself going back a few times when I miss things.

Because they don't know how they'd feel if they didn't have breakfast yesterday.

The imperium are bad guys, because once they show up, they never leave. The Eldar are good guys, because they mostly ignore you, unless they're raiders. The Orks are bad guys, especially Snakebites, but they will leave, either after killing everyone or taking tribute, making them better than imperium. This, I leave you from true 40K, of the pre 3rd massacre. Boris Blasphemy is trash. The books suck, only battle reports count. Space Marine is not a video game, its an epic scale game with campaign rules. The emperor is a dead ******* antichrist. Wysiwyg. Make fluff not lore.

Also, Blood Angels are cool. Black Templars are cool. Space Wolfs are cool. Chaos is cool. Primarchs are homos. Blue SM are homos.

Rogue Trader and 1.5 era orks could field human allies, and Blood Axes even took human advisors. Imperial worlds and governors would turncoat to orks. Orks would invade settled worlds for loot and slaves, even just to fight, but if the humans gave them junk and dakka, they'd leave the humans alone. Bosses protected the worlds from the tithes, if the imperium ever rediscovered the planet. Orks were clearly the intended good guys, considering they got the best sculpts and rowdiest rules. They were more daoist than tau. Tau are ****** *******.

This can be found in Ork Bible: Ere We Go and the other one, the orks' 1.5 codexes.

The places I check are:
Da Archive: https://mega.nz/folder/XlEGHQ6R#29jXaTxGMENZSuV42mf_RA

Libgen https://libgen.is/

Z-library https://z-library.sk/

And If you have a VPN, Soulseek via nicotine-plus:
https://nicotine-plus.org/
It's peer-to-peer, as to why the VPN. But it has a lot of PDFs I have trouble finding elsewhere.

It isn't satire, because it was just a setting for tabletop battles. There's no critique or statement of any kind. It was always about an obscenely stupid bureaucracy run by a death cult, fighting as many enemies as the shop could produce rules and fluff for. There was no lore, metaplot, or sense of "this is our world" until most of the OGs had left, and the books replaced battle reports. You can tell from a game of 2nd that 40K was supposed to be anything but serious. The serious game was WFB.
