Looks like they're trying to concentrate all the gay into one gayRPG.

Why would anyone be listening to the dub anyway? I hope you guys don't do this...

Also are there any JRPGs that are just fun turn based games and not grindfests for exoskeleton havers?

I find reading the text dialogue and playing the game distracting so I always opt for the dub whenever available.

That little fairy still has nothing on Tinkerbell though. I would have preferred a ball-of-light Navi over a flat-everywhere fairy.

Sometimes the English dub is actually pretty good, as with Final Fantasy XII, FFXIV (after Heavensward when they changed studios to London), Xenoblade Chronicles 1, the first two Trails of Cold Steel games, etc.

Chained Echoes would be my choice out of recent games. The maps/dungeons are fun to explore and you don't need to grind since monsters don't even give EXP and the party gets more powerful through exploration and game progression.

If you'd take a SRPG, I liked Triangle Strategy. Octopath games are decent and I don't remember ever needing to grind.

Yeah, I installed a hard mode mod and I still didn't feel like I had to grind for anything except the postgame boss (which I still haven't beaten...)

I used to prefer dubbed anime because I find Japanese VO to be extremely grating and cringeworthy. But since English dubs are plagued by faggotry now, I just stopped watching anime.
I can't stress enough how much I HATE politically motivated deliberate mistranslation of any language. I honestly think a ****** inserting some political ******** to "own the chuds" is nearly as evil and barbaric as the ISIS filming themselves destroying millennia old artifacts. Anyone who has ever done either of those things should be thrown into a brazen bull.

Yeah, they cut the trailer badly. I had the same impression, initially.
The reviews about it are positive to even stellar though and it has already sold 1 million times on all platforms since yesterday, both physically and digitally. Later is stated by Atlus on their Japanese website. Not bad, not bad.
Given the political setting and story, I will still wait for a potential purchase, and research some more to not fall into a trap of woke dub/localization or another issue. Despite having had it on the radar for a long time and being a moderate Persona fan.

Given that the trailer had quite a lot of campness, and it was talking about hippy peace & equality a lot, my estimations are that it will be woke. Atlus is more Leftwing than Square Enix imo.

I really don't see what there is to research. It's like saying you need to wait and research before watching Brokeback Mountain for wokeness. The central plot kinda fails that test you don't need to check for little extra localization errors!

In the first hour of gameplay, it references our world as fantasy story, saying "in this world, there is only one tribe. All people accept each other, and no soul is born into discrimination." It is also mentioned at the start of the Game Awards 2023 trailer. Such garbage.
I forgot that the game's localization was discussed on our forum recently. Outside of that, upon re-watching the trailers again, the woke undertones are more apparent now. An outsider from a "tainted" tribe rising to power as a "hero", uniting all tribes and removing any kind of discrimination. The ones with animal ears and tails deserve it at least.

What I think would be based is if a protagonist were to indeed "unite everyone and everything" by becoming not only the most powerful being but also immortal, using force instead of persuasion or "understanding other perspectives" to bring stability since that would make more sense when you consider how different other cultures actually are. Even moreso in a fantasy world where other non-human races are a thing.

I second this recommendation. It has an interesting combat system that makes even random encounters enjoyable, the story is fairly grounded despite the main game mechanic, and the artstyle aged pretty well for a 3DS game. This game was also developed before Atlus became pozzed so you don't have to worry about any politically "correct" ******** rearing its ugly head anywhere.

My personal recommendations would be World of Final Fantasy and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Both also have unique combat systems that make them stand out from regular JRPGs.

World of Final Fantasy
It was okay. Gameplay wise, there wasn't much depth. You effectively only control two characters (the two stacks of characters on top of each other), which doesn't make for a fun interesting turn based game. You can theoretically unstack your characters and have up to 6 characters on the field at once, but unstacked your characters hit like limp noodles, and are easily one or two shotted by any opposition. Furthermore, only the two humans Reynn and Lann can actually use items, such as a phoenix down, so if they're unstacked and get taken out, welp the rest of your team is screwed. Furthermore, you can only cast higher tier spells by stacking. So there is pretty much no reason to ever unstack. Stability, elemental weakness, and debuff resistances pretty much don't matter at all.

Image

About half way through the game, Reynn picking on her brother every other line started becoming a real turn off. When you listen to her condescending attitude for dozens of hours on end, it starts coming across as if she is, well, a *****. Lann does say silly stuff, but it feels like he is trying to keep morale high, especially during the last 1/3rd of the game when things look rather grim.

I had no idea Reyn was a ***** in the English version. After looking it up, it was a localisation change since she was more serious but more supportive in JP. Lann says dude/honk, Tama says "The" all the time, and other characters have catchphrases unlike the JP version. There also seems to be a lot of jokes changed from JP to ENG. The jokes in JP are based on in-universe events while the ENG jokes are based on internet memes, references. And meta-humor like the Tidus laugh, DMC, or why all enemies drop gold.

I had no clue I had dodged the bullet that hard until reading about all the differences. You can never hate "localizers" enough

Guess World of Final Fantasy wasn't a good suggestion then...

Although, I still had a lot of fun with the combat, mainly because I did a low level challenge of the game by only capturing all the monsters once while running from repeat encounters and doing the bare minimum to complete sidequests/main quests.
