Beat it. Quite enjoyed the reunion with Anezka in the end.

Some thoughts

The game annoyingly lulled me into complacency by letting me solo almost everything in NYC - I would leave the party behind and run through the gauntlet of enemies with just Cristoff. Maxed out fire storm + the tongue of the Asp disciplines obliterate most enemies, even the Vozhd. Fire storm can be cast anywhere without requiring LOS, so cast it on distant enemies and they will either die in one hit or lose interest in trying to approach you from across the map. Funnily enough if you're very far from some enemies when you cast it they will rage attack anything nearby. I managed to incite a fight between two warghouls this way.




But the fun stopped at Vukodlak. He's resistant to fire and is not forgiving in melee range, so I had to walk the abyss back to the gunstore. The fire resistance is the real killer. Napalm bombs don't do much and neither does fire storm - the two things I had prepared for the fight. But you can cheese him by splitting up the party. He also doesn't like these pews in the corner and can come to a dead halt for several minutes if you have someone camp on the other side.

I think the game is ok, but it needs a lot of work. The combat is terrible - having neither the tactical nature of a proper party based rpg nor the fun of mindless hack and slash like Dungeon Siege. It was obviously extremely rushed. There are human-only items that are still spawning in the final levels - in a game where you turn undead after the first hour. Some of the cutscenes have jarringly abrupt endings; some of the of the story details are brushed over in passing, and so on. I'm not quite sure what happened to Serena (Giovannis got all of the Cappadocians? or did she die in Prague?) Going off the credits, the core team appears to be very small. There are PS1 titles in the mid 90s with more devs. But I will say that I consider this the superior introduction to the old WoD vis a vis Bloodlines. It covers most of the clans (all of them?) and spans 900 years. You get a better handle on the evolving political strife, the appearance of new factions, and the predicament of being undead. It's very raw, the protagonist is goofy, but the general set up and story beats have the making for a solid game.

Edit: forgot to mention the soundtrack, some really great pieces in there.

You must then kill her and listen to the last bit, too, for extra skill points. This is a lesson in frustration, as she will attempt to immediately kill Lebedev after exhausting his initial replies.

GMDX changes swimming to athletics which isn't totally worthless. It's still not worth investing in right away, but after you've filled out the important skills. Stealth also isn't bad if you aren't investing in stealth augs since it lets you walk and creep faster as you put into it and the advanced perk lets you sit in view of cameras longer before they go off.

When I got to the golem fight I was afraid that thing had me deadlocked as it wouldn't go down and could two shot both of my party members. Finally got past it by drastically increasing my armor with a Great Shield, Full Helmet & Heavy Gauntlets. Even with that it was a bit of a coin flip.


I'm a bit worried that leveling Christof to 50 strength may not have been the best move. After the golem I feel my team lacks survivability, is there a stat that raises your max HP?

The trick against the golem is good armour and Wilhelm's feral claws ability + celerity, if you've unlocked it. Claws do aggravated damage to which everyone is less resistant. You can level stamina to reduce damage taken, but armour will remain the best for of defence. I found the golem the 2nd most difficult fight in the whole game. As long as you sink a respectable share of xp into the physical attributes, the exact proportion in which you distribute them won't matter too much

I think heightened perception makes them visible again to the character that casts it, to take them down faster. You can also cast healing to suppress some of the frenzy. I don't remember a way to prevent it
