Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a fan game made in the Doom Legacy engine. It looks way better than the Unreal Asset Store junk that was most recently released.
Enderal is a popular total conversion mod for Skyrim. Coming to the JAG soon.
Indigo is an upcoming hack for OOT with it's own story, map, items, enemies, etc. Excited to play it, but I'm avoiding seeing as much as possible until the full release.

None. Zero. There hasn't been a single good one of note.

Vampire Bloodlines Clan Quest mod has a sexy ****** Setian in it that's well worth the download + the wasted loads of sperm ejected in the process of playing it.

That Sonic game looks great. A lot like I hoped the aborted 3D Sonic for sega saturn would have looked if they had finished it. Will definitely try it out.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ October 8th, 2024, 01:58Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a fan game made in the Doom Legacy engine. I liked the Downfall expansion for Slay the Spire. It had about 5 new characters that were all pretty good. Had a lot of fun learning each one and clearing the game, although they probably don't have enough build diversity to play over and over.
Solidus Snake Did Nothing Wrong
Gekokujo 2 for Mount & Blade Warband. I preferred the Japanese setting/flavor, and the gameplay is unique in how mountainous/forested the terrain is which makes mounted cavalry much more difficult to employ, and the lack of shields to shrug off incoming arrow fire makes archers very powerful and dangerous. It is the M&B mod I have spent the most time and playthroughs in, but unfortunately I have never completed a playthrough due to the sheer size of the map. By the time I have reached the usual endgame state of a M&B where I have my own kingdom of several cities and an army of many lords at my beck and call and my take over of the world is inevitable, I still had only conquered maybe 20% of the map, and couldn't be bothered to spend another 20-30+ hours tediously conquering the rest of Japan just to say I finished it. I think Pendor is grossly overrated, but the map there is small and it is the only time I ever finished a M&B playthrough, since by the time I reached the endgame state I had conquered 80% of the world so I mind as well tough it out for a few more hours to the end.
Mechwarrior Living Legends for Crysis Wars. It is one of those Battlefield-esque games where you have dozens of players on a single map capturing objectives and being able to enter vehicles, but with a Battletech/Mechwarrior coat of paint. It is unusual as far as Battletech/Mechwarrior games go in that it focuses on a combined arms feel, with the FPS ground combat and the hover tanks and the jets being played just as much as the actual mechs, which Battletech/Mechwarrior games almost only ever focus on.
Pokemon Insurgence. The game that introduced the concept of Regional Evolutions which were eventually adopted by the official mainline titles. Most of the designs I did not like, but I thought that the black ninja/sumo wrestler Blastoise, the cake Crustle, and the rock dragon Avalugg were neat. The first 1/3rd of the story held promise, with the champion (called the Augur) having gone missing during a time of upheaval in the region, and this other man stepping up to the plate to fulfill the Augur's role, and then the twist that the second Augur is a bad guy. The story becomes boring after the sky gym, though. The gameplay was terrible. Every trainer has a full party of six Pokemon from the get go, so it takes forever to go down a route as you have to constantly run back and forth between the Pokemon center as you slowly inch forward, and you have to do a lot of tedious boring level grinding at the Audino NPC. Romhacks and fangames of RPGs in general (not just Pokemon) tend to have the issue where they are grossly overtuned for autists with unlimited free time. I did not really have fun. Can't recommend.

Ashes 2063 / Dead Man Walking / Afterglow / Hard Reset
Quite possibly the best Build Engine FPS around (even though it's running on GZDoom). Can switch between high-octane action, contemplative exploration and outright horror with ease. The rise in scope and ambition from 2063 to Afterglow is remarkable, from linear campaign to an open-world map you are free to explore, weapon upgrades, side quests, voice acting, cutscenes et al.
Thief: The Black Parade
I don't think this mod needs much introduction. Take some of the most experienced and talented Thief modders around and let them cook for 7 years or so, and what you get is one of the best Thief experiences to date.

My only complaint about Black Parade was total unoriginality in the story. Otherwise it's the best designed set of missions you can get for Thief.
Anyone who loves Thief/Thief II and hasn't checked out the fan mission scene is cheating themselves out of some seriously great work.

MMMerge: Somewhat hard to install slavjank mod that merges Might and Magic 6-8 together into one big game. You can pick which game to start from, but depending on party composition you may need to travel sooner rather than later and the portals between continents are hard to get to. There's several versions floating around including a new one that entered the scene a few months ago. Best bet is to check out Celestialheavens for the various forks. Also Arcomage in MM6 taverns!
Streets of Rage Remake: THIS is Streets of Rage 4, not that fake and gay thing on Steam. Bombergames worked for ages out of love only to get C&D'd at the end, but SoRR is easy to find and has or had an active fanbase still making games with the development tools.

You mean the mod that kills the pacing by adding random lifeless garrys mod maps into the middle of the plot and has a side plot where you go on dates with a literal ****** ***** vampire?Zothique wrote: ↑ October 8th, 2024, 02:17Vampire Bloodlines Clan Quest mod has a sexy ****** Setian in it that's well worth the download + the wasted loads of sperm ejected in the process of playing it.

Though I'm more excited about them finishing the vampire hunter mod... what little of that is done so far is quite interesting.
It's awful.
I said it before, CQM has some great ideas, but the implementation of all those is horrible. The assassination quests are barebones, the clan quests not engaging enough (though I did like the rewards), and while the hub that was included is actually impressive for even existing in the game, it's a desert when it comes to actual content. It even has a donutsteal *****.
All the effort is wasted trying to wrangle the game into achieving something that was practically impossible with the tools at hand. The modder's energy would have been better spent improving the final act of the game, and adding a few more general quests (since there is a hardcoded limit of how many quests can be in the game).

Is this thing still as jank as it used to be? I remember trying to fight in the arena and ending up as a hodgepodge of different bodyparts.Manny V wrote: ↑ October 9th, 2024, 09:32Warsword Conquest - Warhammer Fantasy conversion: https://www.moddb.com/mods/warsword-conquest
it's defs still scuffed and they haven't updated it in a while, but stuff like that doesn't really happen afaikTweed wrote: ↑ October 9th, 2024, 09:41Is this thing still as jank as it used to be? there's still the obvious race-specific armour that you might be able to equip as another race, and that's gonna like scuffed obvs, but i think try to lock it to that race (ie a human trying to wear skaven armour or some **** won't work)
been a while since i've played it tbh but one of my favourites

Not only is it completely free and made by fans of the games, it's better than the originals(fite me), and one of the best games ever made altogether.

The Elder Kings and AGOT total conversion mods for CK2.
The Elder Kings is an Elder Scrolls themed mod that lets you play anywhere on Nirn.

AGOT is a Game of Thrones themed mod that lets you play anywhere in The Known World.

I was too lazy to start up CK2 myself, so here are two web-found screenshots. Neither depict the full size of the world maps, sadly.

Yeah, that's because of all the Essosi rulers. Had the mod only included Westeros, it would've been much more smooth going. Same with vanilla CK2 with all the pointless Indian rulers. HIP mod for CK2 even has a custom map with India cut off and an option to turn off every single ruler there, which makes the game run like butter. Even virtual pajeets manage to ruin everything, lmao.jebacdrkac wrote: ↑ October 9th, 2024, 16:09CK2 Agot, terribly optimized. For longer playthroughs very strong pc is a must
