Actually, I think this is at least partly explained - or perhaps a better word is foreshadowed - in the manual(s) for D1 (and perhaps also D2).
The Prime Evils could not be destroyed by conventional means, but the meddling of Tyrael gave humans the soulstones in which it was possible to entrap the Evils.
That however meant one would spend the rest of one's days wrestling with the entity trapped. The statistics for these battles show that Tyrael's idea probably was crap. Not even the greatest of the horadrim wizards nor the most pious of the zakarumites were able to hold the evil at bay, so it is no wonder an upstart player character wasn't able to do so either.

I really don’t give a **** about Neyrelle. The expansion goes out its way to act like the MC has some deep connection with her when she barely had 30 minute of screen time in the base game.Maybe if the game did more show not tell in the relationship then this wouldn’t be a glaring problem.

Neyrelle is just a worst version leah without any of the characterization or build up. D3 story has its issues but it did make those provital emotional moments matter when **** hits the fan.

To be fair D3 went through several revisions during its development both in story and gameplay so I’m surprised it didn’t end of being complete trash fire.

Thanks. I must admit, this video is a bit too long that I'll watch it all, but it is clear by the approx 20 first minutes that the devs chose a path that basically said "**** you" to the people who made them who Blizzard were. A bit like WotC, come to think of it. And several other companies.

So, @Unhelpful Contrarian , was thinking of firing up D4 this weekend... Is that effort worthwhile, or do we spend 3 hours in queue to play 1 hour before being booted, like it was about a year ago? I read that the expansion has led to "tech difficulties" and that Blizzard claim they have been DDoS'ed. Do you know if the game is playable at all atm?

So far other then the brief hiccups the expansion launch it been ok. It’s nothing like the D4 launch which was plague with issues.

(Not fun coming from work and having blizzard **** up there launch when you already allotted your limited free time for)

Most likely due to its high price point ( $50 what a joke ) and mixed reception there isn’t much buzz about it so that’s a possible reason why it’s been relatively easy to jump to a lobby.

Honestly can’t blame people for skipping it when the expansion is a glorified season content update, only difference is that it gives a mediocre story continuation. ( I only completed 23% so far)

Worst part about it is that I know for a fact they change the regen time for equipment that gives health, which used to be per second to now every 5 seconds making my current build utterly useless
