I'd like if the game just had more NPCs who live in the world you can talk to

tip for respeccing: before doing it, go to the archetype page and select a talent option that has all the talents, then star all the ones you have trained(that you plan on keeping, anyways)
do the same with abilities, too
make sure not to confuse the locked ones with trained, ofc, they'll both be red

I killed yrliet, but she still shows up when it asks me to pick my party. Opened my character screen, and sure enough, she appears at the top but with 0 HP. Quality, owlcat.

I think the story/game would have been a lot better if the main character was a rogue trader's seneschal instead

Well doing that would significantly limit the story decisions the MC could do by a lot.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 22:42I think the story/game would have been a lot better if the main character was a rogue trader's seneschal instead

True. However due to the nature of Warhammer 40k if your not in position of high authority your pigeon hold on what you allowed to do.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 23:05but the stuff involving the ship is the best partUnhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 22:56Well doing that would significantly limit the story decisions the MC could do by a lot.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 22:42I think the story/game would have been a lot better if the main character was a rogue trader's seneschal instead
Being Iconoclastic or heretic would be death sentence. Owlcat was already pushing what’s realistically possible to get away with as Rogue Trader, your character not being a Rogue Trader would have gotten you in instant bolt shot to the face by a Inquisitor for attempting 1/100 the **** you do in the game.

also, if you want to discuss making sense, the rogue trader putting themselves in this much danger makes way less sense
at least you could make some kind of excuse for the seneschal going on adventures

Yes he leans more “good aligned”, however A he still very much dogmatic and B he still has to follow the whims of a Rogue Traders who by in large selfish Assholes who couldn’t give two shits about human life’s.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 23:28go check the alignment of abelard.Unhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ October 6th, 2024, 23:16True. Now if your playing as the seneschal you going be very much limited in what you can and can’t do. It becomes understandable on why Owlcat choose the MC as a Rogue Trader since it gives a lot of player freedom on how they can respond to any given situation which would be next to impossible for anyone else.

To be fair certain Rogue Traders are known to put themselves in danger for the thrill of it. I do think it’s possible for the story to be a MC seneschal but large amounts of the story would have to be rewritten to make it work, but at that point you’re loosing the whole appeal of Rogue Trader game in the first place.

act 3 wasn't that bad, but I didn't like it and it will probably kill any interest in a replay for me tbh
also, they keep giving me characteristic checks that are tuned as skill checks

Don't click this unless you did ALL of the DLC. I don't even know if I did all of it, but I don't want to spoil it for you guys. Otherwise, you're going to spoiler a good story for yourself and regret it.
for the dlc
The game is really hampered by their homebrew system they use, which is sad.

There shouldn't even be a heretic 'playthrough', except perhaps being hunted down by the inquisition.
The idea that every RPG needs to offer multiple 'sides' of the same story is silly.

a major complaint I have is there is no way to know wtf just updated with regards to missions
you'll warp travel to somewhere, dialogue will pop up, and you can't click the journal entry because the dialogue popped up then you have to go dig through 40 rumors and 15 quests to figure out wtf it was

Finished BG1 and started dragonspear today using the SCS mod. I always forget how good it is to have instant loads with older games.

Some new games have instant loading times too. Play ATOM RPG if you haven't, the biggest town loads instantly, and it has NPCs with full schedules.Boontaker wrote: ↑ October 7th, 2024, 03:53Finished BG1 and started dragonspear today using the SCS mod.
