You would think that a company that handles games that cost dozens to hundreds of millions of dollars to develop and advertise could afford to spend $500 to have a guy fly out to the studio and check out what's going on there.

GoY is being made for the same reasons as Joker 2. It was because the wrong people liked the first game and now they want to punish and humiliate fans of the first. This is starting to become a common theme with the Western entertainment industry right now. These companies are literally burning hundreds of millions of dollars just to try to own the "Chuds". This is how you know that the pendulum is starting the swing back the other way. This is just the Left lashing out in anger as they begin to lose power. It is literally the "They cry out in pain as they strike you" meme right now with the Left.

I believe this is the sequel they would have made regardless of any other factors because this is what the studio is inherently like.

The game itself punishes and humiliates Jin. He loses everything by the end. There's no way they would have done a sequel to give him a happy ending.

I never cared for the original Ghosts of Tsushima. I bounced off it pretty quick, but it's been many years since I played it so I don't remember exactly why. However, I do remember there being a woman that followed you around and talked all the time so that probably had something to do with it.

Either way, I don't know how anyone could be surprised that the sequel is shaping up to be ****** slop. At this point any game that comes out of the west is ****** slop until proved otherwise.

Reading some "insider stuff" that some YouTubers have been talking about, it appears that GoY was originally being produced as a continuation of Jin's story, but it was this last year that Sucker Punch for whatever reason did a 180° and aborted the original vision to shoehorn the wahmah protagonist and move the setting centuries in the future.

If true, that would explain why the Sony higher-ups were baffled when they saw the trailer and Jin was nowhere to be found.

Exactly two of them put in any effort to look good in the promotional group photo they knew was happening.

And only one of them actually pulled it off. They put her literally front and center, of course.

Aside from the combat, I liked how making the game look beautiful didn't require 70GB+ of bloat, just good art direction (idk how big the game file is now, this was on PS4). And Tsushima had lots of great environments that were designed to look beautiful. Shame that it had the classic Ubisoft open-world padding which was just too much.

Rusty is right - game was already woke as ****. For example - Masako being a **** and in love with a woman outside of her marriage with her husband. Yuna being this sassy "girlboss" and her young brother being the nerdy, timid pushover who was a good blacksmith. The implication that Jin's maid had a love affair with his father after his mother died. Tomoe, Ishikiwa's student, who taught his techniques to the Mongols and assisted them in murdering the villagers, and was a lying and manipulative POS, but at the end of her quest, the game gives you zero choice in how you deal with her and lets her just walk away scot-free.
