The trauma that makes you unequip a weapon is very annoying. Three times now I have gone into battle without one of my weapons because of it.

► act 3

Also, I learned the game isn't even using an adaptation of the tabletop rules so ??? for why it's so ****. No idea what they were thinking, I guess it's like a loose adaptation but made worse? I have a feeling it's based on someone's house rules.

I thought Toy box mod was essentially a cheat mod.

No, it has cheats but they aren't enabled by default. I used it for gamespeed(so I could watch cutscenes at faster pace but not skip them) + toggle tab highlight.

Oh I see. Ya I can see why people who use the mod got annoyed by the QOL feature.

It actually causes a lot of issues, so I wouldn't even recommend using it unless temporarily to unbork a mission then disabling it again.

It's something I have indeed been seeing quite a lot in recent games, that being that the developers want to blur the line between "videogame" and "interactive film".

I was really cocky and have someone in my party that got forced in there(told whats-her-face to go find her own people because I don't give a **** about her, then when exploring they force her into my party and I have no way to say no. Thanks, owlshit.)

this game has waaaay too many accessories btw

I guess it would be less of an issue if they weren't something like "+7% damage for your next attack that's not a swing attack after parrying on wednesday while standing in fire and you also must be an iconoclast"

probably should have added more gear slots tbh

This is akin to a ****** railroading DM (i.e. 95% of DMs) killing your party in a "cutscene" without using the game mechanics because "It's more cinematic, bro. This is improvised collaborative storytelling, bro!"
And it's also a sure sign of the encounter being written by a failed hack writer who couldn't make it in Hollywood/publishing because they're so talentless that even those bastions of nepotistic incestuous degeneracy wouldn't take them in. And these hack writers don't understand the main strength of video games - interactivity. So, they write stupid ******** that completely ignores or outright goes against gameplay.
The most blatant spit in your face and **** on your shoes example is Mass Effect 3 with the edgelord ****** Kai Leng winning in a cutscene after you decimate him in 3 seconds during the actual boss fight.
"Oh, it all makes sense now, brother."

many of the weapons have hidden effects that, for whatever reason, owlcat decided not to tell the players about
which is why they all seem so similar

you can only see this if you go dig thru the blueprints in toybox

I still remember how annoying it was that part in Kingmaker were you have to enter a fist brawl without your gear and then you have to manually put everything back on once the fight is over. Can't imagine how annoying it would be with ALL of your party.

I wonder if you can build a team that doesn't abuse officer/master tactician. Or maybe that's just what I'm relying on. Without it my team hits like wet noodles, pasqal does ok though

****, what is your squad? My tactic is buffing Argenta, she gets up to 180 ballistic skill and her heavy bolter starts critting for 200 per bullet. She ends up clearing most encounters in 2 turns for me, if she goes down early the fight gets hairy though lol

RT(Officer/Grand Strategist) / Abelard (Warrior/Vanguard) / DLC companion (blade dancer/executioner) / Heinrix (Warrior/Vanguard, used as a pure psyker) / Argenta(replaced with Ulfar)

I read that vanguard sucks or that they're incapable of tanking, but I haven't experienced that at all and I've done every fight(except the one I noted previously due to NPC AI) on Unfair. If they attack him before he can get a round off he might get bursted down and things get hairy, but that's only happened a couple times. If I suspect it will happen, I use my RT to give him a turn to get his endurance up and taunt off.

Specifically referring to Abelard tanking, not Heinrix. I didn't see anything else worthwhile taking as Heinrix because I'm just using him as a psyker, so I went vanguard for some survivability.

[edit]
Woops, forgot Pasqal. Can't believe that, he's one of my favorite companions. Also, he's a beast at damage when using plasma weapons.

Also, I think the DLC companion might be OP(but definitely not as OP as Cassia is), but I don't feel like rejiggering my entire squad to remove her. That's a major issue with the game: if you want to rotate members of your squad, they have to fill the same niche as the person who left, at least in terms of their skill focus.

Also, ridiculous that they made what is essentially an entire class unto itself — and probably the most comprehensive one — for navigators, and there's… one … navigator. One.
Sure, you can make a mercenary navigator, but come on. Cassia was obviously someone's pet character.
It's not even on the same level as psyker because at least the main character can be a psyker.

got tired of reading so I started hacking on the voice mod that uses the windows builtin TTS (booo!!!!) to use a much better TTS(yay!!!!)

notably, this supports custom voice models. The one I used is only a medium quality demo model.

It takes a couple seconds to generate the text tho, so I could probably have it cache the files and the cache could be distributed with the model. Probably wouldn't be too hard to just pull all the dialogue files and generate them.
