I did play MoP! I played it because I wanted to learn more cooking recipees myself, but yeah, it was not WoW, felt more like those "koombaya" storylines where everyone has to join forces. I am not sure if that was the one that changed WoW, but seeing that panda in the trailer was... odd. Seeing all the other furry beasts they added now, I am thinking they were testing the waters then to add more in the future.

i'm on Warmane's Lordaeron one right now, and as much as it's notorious for p2w douchebags it hasn't been so bad, only real issues are the occasional lvl 80 wankers that gank lowbies in stranglethorn and what have you

but ye i'd be down to give a different private server a try with you lads, i didn't find any other servers that wowed me (pardon the pun) and just opted for warmane, but am open to ideas

Going to update this post here for now with what I get done writing up, might take awhile, but I'm on it.

Some thoughts and rants on Arathi Basin and other things people might learn something from. Most of this is up to Cataclysm with some MoP experience.

Rule #1: The cap is most important.

You stop that point from being capped. This is what wins you the game on the scoreboard. Your HK's, Damage Done, Healing Done don't mean anything. Time spent owning a node is all that counts.

Pulling off sick Cr!tS and Mlg, streamer NO Sc0peZ, clippable plays and blowing Cooldowns for some L337 DAMAGE SCREENSHOT is not helping the team in the end if it's away from a point or in mid field/some obscure area away from anything relevant going on. People will put on some garbage trap music with their funko pop collection and rainbow lighting in the background while streaming and just do the "GO GIT BIG NUMBAS" routine. They usually won't listen to you asking for them to come with you or to do something. Also, youtubers and streamers who always seem to be 'so good' are gifted items, gold, and often times just carried by others like a healer, funnily enough like some rando or guildy that knows who they are and just e-succ's them in game and stays attached to them, usually not healing others or CC'ing just to make the streamers highlights a "banger". We all know this already but that's the truth of it. Watching Streamers and Arena players, and even slowing down their videos and watching play by play generally won't make you a better player. I think this discourages people a lot because they think they'll never be that good, so why bother even queuing if I'll face these kinds of players. Most players you run into in an average BG are not these kinds of players. Arena is all 'comps' and playing as and against certain team make-ups and specs over and over in a small controlled environment with no other goal but to drop the other teams health to zero. Some of the teams simply counter others and the average player won't get noticeably better watching these matches aside from some useful macros you can learn from them, imo. A lot of 'skill' or 'know how' comes from experience and really knowing your characters spells, ranges, weaknesses, etc. I've done arena before, it doesn't feel organic and Arena is just it's own thing. Rant: Off

Rule#2: Do not stand near the capture point.

Whether you are defending it or waiting for it to turn over onto your side ( contested ). Why? Sap'n'cap. I played a Rogue a lot in TBC and Wotlk and even more so in Cataclysm near it's end before MoP was near release and then into MoP. for several months. I would Sap some fool near the capture point and cap it instantly while he watches. He Breaks sap? Vanish, do it again. He breaks again somehow? Blind, click again. I still see people do this to this day. Standing within 10-15 yards at capture points... don't do it.

* 16-20 yards away from cap is minimum you should be away from a cap point. So they can't Sap'n'Cap you.
( Because of improved sap distance from wotlk Rogue talent in Sub tree ).



Rule#3: Do not stand near ledges where you can be pushed off.

Typhoons, Explosive Traps, pushes of any kind, not sure what is in retail now as stated before I don't know much after MoP. You can stand back from ledges like in AB Lumber Mill for example, away from the flag and the ledge and to watch what's going on down below at ST, BS and Farm safely. Zoom your camera out and even use this macro to further extended your camera distance.

You don't need a front row seat. Stay away from ledges. One Druid Typhoon and everyone is off the ledge and either dead below or low health and far away from GM (obviously) BS, ST, FARM and Lumber Mill above. You are now useless to all capture points, no mans land.

Speaking of AB Lumbermill. Did you know It's #1 for capturing?

I don't care what some youtuber or rainbow lit room streamer will tell you. Lumber Mill is highest point on the map. It oversees almost everything on the map. you can Goblin Glider/Rocket Boost+Levitate/slowfall, Parachute Cloak, whatever else retail has now to get to the following:

-Directly at Capture Spot for BS

-Directly at Capture spot for FARM

-Directly at capture spot for ST (If timed/proper speed boost increase) at the least you can hit the bridge/waterway or river bank. A Few steps forward and a Hunter or say Shadow Priest with 10% or more increased range ( from talents ) can easily autoshot/use an instant ability to stop a ST flag being defended or asssaulted.





I did this a lot on my Goblin hunter and Rogue back when. You can Shadowstep to the capper easily and once up on top of the river bank you can ( if Shadowstep is on cooldown ) use Goblin Racial Rocket Boost forward and be at the capper next to the flag so you can start feeding him the business because time is money friend.

- You can Charge/Intercept and Monk Roll to be right on his *** as well. Druid Pounce has less range.
- You can hit the water/shore area after BS if heading to GM.

[ POINT PRIORITIES ]

#1 LUMBER MILL ( reasons above) You can see 90% of the battlefield and what's going on ( depends on view distance allowed per expansion and your settings of course ) Making callouts from here from 1 cap point to all 4 others is not worth giving up. You have eyes on 4 places out of 5. No brainer. I have the high ground Anduin... don't try it.

#2 The Enemy Side's starter node. ST if you are Horde, FARM if you are Alliance. Why? If you control everything else or it's contested they will default to starter point spawn.

----> ( Horde Perspective now ) If you own ST and they start to spawn up at their starting point for the match, you can send out guys from ST to harass them trying to dip over to GM, they MAY get past if hugging the wall. But they aren't getting past the ST bridge to head to LM ( if they can't stealth ). Can't slip past you going around ST GY to BS either as you can catch them before they get to the north bridge leading to BS. So you have them effectively cut off from 2 out of 3 routes ( if they can't stealth or speed boost past/wing it and get around you ).

#3 YOUR starter node. ( Farm if Horde, ST if Alliance ). Why? Allowing them to have Mid ( doesn't mean you shouldn't still harass them around there/keep them distracted and engaged in battle, on foot, not mounted, at something you own, etc... ) Means they have the longest/most pinched routes to get to the other nodes. It's surrounded by water... so lets break it down.

- BS going to ST: You can take north bridge or jump in water. Bridge takes longer. Water; most people do not use Water Walking Potions or have an ability to do so. Water slows movement, if you catch most people in water from the shore, they can't move for ****, have no los ( line of sight ) for cover and generally are sitting ducks for firing away at.

- BS going to GM: You have to cross water again or take north bridge. Lets say someone makes those jumps perfectly while mounted on the boxes/debris to cross the water to the shore quickly ( most don't or can't ) Once they get to the ledge looking down at GM...if they can't drop down safely with slowfall/something similar, they will take heavy damage and be easier pickings for anyone down below at GM. Or they're ****** and have to go West or East around to take the footpath down ( wastes more time, more points for the other guys ).

- BS going to FARM: Farm is weakest here if you own it. You can speed boost+Goblin Glider to get on top of the FARM cap point from BS easily. Most vulnerable to being capped the fastest by fresh BS spawners. Old trick of leaving a Warrior here to chop the mice that roam the farm area to keep his rage filled up, just don't wander away from the FARM cap too long.

- BS to LM: Shear wall in front of them. Can go south bridge and ride up from the eastern slope to LM or they go over the debris in water and come up from the western slope ( Depending on how well you hug the terrain/cliff edges, which one takes the longest is debatable).

- So with all that being said IMO.... in AB when you own LM, ST and a decently defended FARM is often their undoing. Does this work every time? No of course not. People will go afk, lag out/get disconnected, etc. But I can honestly say it seems to lead to noticeably more wins in AB then by just winging it and going all over just to see the map nodes turn your teams color.

[ Some Thoughts on Capping ]

- Do not use Death Grip to stop caps If you can help it and only if all other range abilities on your DK are expended. I know it seems tempting, but your Icy Touch (ranged) has less range. Don't get caught just out of Icy Touch range with your grip on cooldown watching the flag being capped. Save that 'yank' for if they root you or after you break a stun and can't use anything else and it's desperate. Your runes for your abilities regen faster than your Death grip cooldown. Save grip for emergency.





- You just need to stop the channel from a cap, ( letting them get to half done channel or more is risky because you might be jumped or stunned by someone else and it'll mess up your chance... but it's just like the cat and mouse game with Healers right? when they cast a heal ( they want to juke your 'kick' ), you let them almost get the cast off before interrupting. Same deal. This lets your runes regen nicely and you can effectively just Icy Touch them almost infinitely before the cap happens every time allowing you time to get out of the root/snare.) The enemy does not need to be and should not be in your face ( depends on class and spec obviously ) where they can Gouge, Blind, Stun or use nasty up close CC's or push you back and potentially CC you even further away from the point then where you started. Save it. Waste his time while you rack up a few precious points....

- This goes for any class; if you are at a point and it's just you and some mook trying to cap your point, whether you think or KNOW you can take him, you don't always need to engage directly and try to kill asap, just plunk him with instants and Cat n Mouse him into leaving the point and focusing on you. If he's after you he's not stopping your point gain is he? If he leaves it and comes to stomp you in, the cap is still yours isn't it for those few extra seconds? Drag it out safely if you can,( no one else is coming and will be there shortly to help him beat your teeth in) and lure him around with what you have but don't be too far away from the point in case a Druid or Rogue stealths in and caps while you are way out of range from the point. Jokes on you now. Congratulations, you played ya'self.

- Hunters need to have macro's for @mouseover for pet attack, I see so very few who do this. They switch targets to click pet attack then back to their own target. Lazy. As long as that pet is alive you hover over a capper and click the macro while you focus someone else if you have to like a Healer. Most people won't deal with pets unless they absolutely have to, having a free fast attacking pookeemanz stopping them over and over is kinda good.

- @mouseover macros should be used by everyone. If you have an instant no CD or low CD damaging ability, you should make a macro for it so you simply have to hover over a player near a cap point and press it once without dropping your actual target. Simple and effective.

- AOE's. Yes, you Mages and Warlocks and Boomkins, whatever else can channel/use castable ground aoes. The initial tick of damage will stop a cap channel but a sustained channel WILL NOT. Same goes with DoTs. You can load someone up with DoTs and they can still continue to cap. You NEED to hit them with instants. I still see people do this today ( depends on xpac of course ). Warlock will DoT me up with everything as I'm capping and then start to spam some Shadowbolts and my cap is done before the bolt hits me. If they have an Imp out, the imps bolts are fast and will effectively stop you, same goes for Succ, Void and Fel, they will melee auto you and you aren't getting that cap. Otherwise if no pet is on you or it's distracted elsewhere...Yes I might die after finishing a cap channel with all that on me... but if I just stopped a flag-turn and defended it, it's going to reset the flag-turn timer and stays contested longer, buying you some time on losing it and more time for your boys to get to it and help keep it.

- From MY experience ( Wotlk mostly ), if you must leave at least 2 defenders at a point it's a Rogue and Frost Mage. Snares/Slows/ CC's for days. Depends on lvl and skills available obviously. Others may say some other 2 man combo is better but as I've stated already it depends on expansion and available skills at certain levels. Rogue and Mage for me. End of discussion.

- Tempting to leave a MAIN/specced healer ( not just someone who CAN heal) at a point right? If the point stays quiet that healer is wasted when he could be out refilling health bars where fighting is actually happening. Healers should stay with the group where something you want isn't yours yet or something you have is under heavy presence. They are going to be ( and should be ) one of THE most mobile characters on a map. I do this myself and have for years. I am busy and all over the place in many BG's. it can be exhausting but it's what I do best in PvP. You go where you are needed most, do not stay and defend a quiet cap for minutes on end. They need you elsewhere, tell someone to come and take your spot. If they argue or no one comes/answers, well you have a choice.... leave the point and potentially lose it, and you take the blame or you go elsewhere and keep the boys fighting and secure something else. It's 50/50 simple as that.

- I Personally will make a quick assessment of the map and what's going on and make a judgement call within seconds as to what to do. More often then not I will leave, I am not doing any good with no health to restore, fears, DoTs or snares to Dispel and Cleanse.

- I don't explain my actions with feverish typing and waste time arguing with ANYONE in game let alone PvP. Nor should you. I'm making callouts and draining my mana for healing and dispelling everything I can until there's nothing left but my Wand if I have to ( Wands are quite useful for stopping a cap btw. It isn't a spell so it can't be kick'd. Use a fast one if you can. I rarely see people get a quick wand shot off to stop a cap if they can't instant a person capping a point... baffling. )

- I don't bother telling someone to 'stfu' or engage someone mouthing off about how " U all suk ". Don't even bother ignoring them, They may see your callout and react accordingly which could save a point/ they make a difference when needed. No reaction to this ****. I tune it out. You should too.

[ Streak Stuff ]

- On the server I was on, I was frequently better prepared and geared while leveling through 10-19 and up until 30-39. I know a lot of quests and area at certain levels to go and do to fill out gear slots with nice pieces. I use food buffs, potions, elixers and engi goodies. I saw maybe a dozen or so grenades toss by other players the entire 25-0 run. Saw no Battle Chickens, Dragonlings or Rocket Boot users. Some used Speed Pots as you can get 5 from quest rewards. I made sure I was very well prepared but even then not every match was a sure win as some were very close. If it's only ( or mostly ) me doing all this and to the extent I that I do it...

Yes I make a difference I have to pick up the slack/work harder than others or I get focused and have a harder time getting around as others are looking for 'that yellow glowstick prick' so they can stop me from being effective. Others could have bad ping or just don't use certain skills when they should or simply don't see me. I use foliage, larger characters and terrain to hide away from notice whenever I can. Some of the wins were simply from people tired perhaps or just PvEers that don't PvP much or excel at it, just looking to get a bit of honor for a few gear upgrades that they want. Most aren't a try hard like myself. All this factored in to pulling off that run. I narrowly won a number of games and someone else pulled off an unharassed flag run or point cap at the right moment. Prep on my part, some RNG and a dash of Luck. Was fun either way and nerve racking many games but it was a blast.

- MOST people will not have Engineering maxed at every interval when a new cap/items are available ( lvl 20...lvl 35...lvl 50 for example) let alone actually make them and use them. I do. I always do this on every character I plan to PvP with. Yes I'm that nuisance 'try hard' in BG's you see with stupid gadgets and trinkets. Once I hit 50 I get 350 Engineering and make Cogspinner goggles which are ridiculous stat wise with good suffixes and they last well into 60's to 70. I never see people with goggles on past level 50 or so until mid 60's+. They can give you 600+ more health for one slot and at 50 it's amazing. I always make Goblin Rocket Launchers ( sometimes 2 for a whopping +90 Stam, +45 ea ) at level 50. Have one on my 50 Pally right now for example. They outlawed R-Grade cyber goodies after that fiasco back on Citadel Station, so that's maybe why most don't use this stuff.







- MOST people will not max Cooking (use best buff food available ) nor Alchemy potions (Battle and Guardian Elixirs). I almost never see people use Swiftness Potions, invisibility Potions, Resistance Potions to absorb and eat up a certain elemental damage type. Chug a Shadow/Greater Shadow Absorb potion and that Warlock is useless against you for a good amount of time especially at low lvls. I make sure I try to have a healthy supply of all these things at all times.



- MOST people will not get specific quest rewards or do chains that give things like Nifty Stopwatch or wait on a rare mob for something like Tidal Charm ( 3 second stun on target ). I do. They won't make High Powered Flashlights for a whopping 24 to Hit rating when it's available. All my tanks use this when available, almost never miss mobs or players on level or slightly above.





- MOST people won't swap out gear for a minor loss in dps for more health/surviveabilty. They tunnel vision and it's all ME KLIK DAMUGE stuff, ME MUS DO DAMUDGE, KIL GUY KWIK. I do not do this. You don't always need to plunk away at some guy and chase him all over even if he's low health and you get that lust for the kill that comes over or because he /spit you or teabagged. A simple Silence, Fear, Knock Back to the healer during a cast... Dispel an effect. Takes just a few clicks and the guy goes down to the other player/s nearby and you didn't have to spam damage **** over and over hoping his health goes to zero or wasting time fighting away from nodes/capture points. This is in my opinion the biggest issue players have when PvPing. The thrill of the kill.

Now of course, again....these opinions, tactics and items may not all be available or apply to every expansion or every level bracket because some skills learned at a certain level can be a game changer. I won't go over every great ability that becomes available to every class and at what level, that would take too long and I jusdonwanna. Every group is different unless you're running premades ( which I never have, unless you count me and my brother as one lol ). Some times people are lagging.... sometimes that spell or hit doesn't crit when you need it most... sometimes you get resisted, Sometimes you're just not perfectly timed and the windisblowing in the wrongdiRectION aNd all the stArs donTALign aND THE mOON is iN THEWR0NGPHA5EANDTHENV3NUS!.......

Sometimes it just comes down to RNG and Luck. People will suffer from the same bad RNG stints, they won't listen to you, they are streaming to 13 1/2 people and playing mumble trap while in a $2000 racer chair and you just can't tell'em nuffin.... you can't win them all. **** happens.
But these tips should help improve match wins as I've used them for years. I'll add more or elaborate on things if needed.

That's all for now. As as mentioned before... some of this information may not apply to all expansions/retail now. It's all personal experience and opinion.

Just did the raid.

So, that's it for the Nerubian war? We never got the grandiose war advertised in the titular expansion and on the key art. It doesn't feel like a big battle is being waged with other NPCs fighting in the background like in Siege of Orgrimmar or Antorus or Amirdrassil. It's just 15 guys running through chopping up bodyguards, and then some VIPs, and then killing the queen while she is alone. It is also disappointing that there is no epilogue. I went back to the inn in the Weaver's Lair expecting Neferess to get the news that Ansurek is dead and to come back, but that didn't happen. And at the end of the raid, the Vizier is talking about how they have to keep things hush? What? Ansurek, her two generals, and all of her loyal soldiers within the castle walls are dead. Who are you afraid of? Just tell the people the truth: Ansurek got duped.

Aesthetically, I thought the raid was good-ish. More memorable than Vault of the Incarnates. Music was forgettable. There is tense violin music playing on the boss fights that makes it a little more exciting, but I can't remember anything about it melodically. Wouldn't add it to my favorite's playlist.

The boss fight weren't anything super standout but overall better than Vault, where I can hardly remember any of the fights. I liked picking up the chunks of meat and throwing them into the first boss' mouth. Running around chasing Rasha'nan was fun. I liked the intensity of Broodtwister with her creepy-cool model and the room slowly filling up with that creeping AoE. The dual boss fight against Anub and Takazj was neat.

I don't think the dungeon journal explained the web mechanic on the Silken Council very well. It said that it causes massive raid wide damage when the web breaks, so I thought it was going to be like the DoT mechanic on Sarkareth where you can't have everyone break their webs all at once and instead have to pace them out over the course of the fight, so I was running with my partner trying not to break the web. But apparently everyone was just breaking the web immedietely? But then you also have other people who have to keep the link to trip Anub when charges. It's just not tutorialized well.

Ansurek was an underwhelming base game final boss compared to Raszageth. Raszageth appeared from the beginning of the Dragonflight story in the Forbidden Reach and then popped in a few times throughout, and then the base game culminated in you killing the main villain which was a nicer conclusion to the base expansion experience than usual. Raszageth also had a cooler design being a bird dragon that breathes lightning lasers. Ansurek however is only introduced in the last 5 minutes of the Azj-Kahet questline, and doesn't look as cool. Doesn't feel as cathartic of a final boss.

AFAIK it is very risky to tamper with WoW beyond doing UI addons. Anything like straight up model replacement could get you flagged and banned. You can't do model replacers like in FF14.
