FightClub - Play Fighting Games Together
Practically indistinguishable from our sets
Ok, I finally remembered that I'm supposed to record some matches. I forgot to get OBS set up beforehand so I didn't capture any of my matches with @Dead today, but I have it open and configured for the next person I play against (hint hint @A Chinese opium den).
I picked up a couple tricks from that video I linked above, especially air dash into down heavy (downward falling anchor attack). I'm also starting to get the hang of using Jackhound (the move where she runs forward, trips, and does a bodyslam overhead). It shouldn't be that hard, but for some reason I keep flubbing the hcb input in the heat of the moment, or forgetting that it's D and not P.
If you ever see me jumping in place instead of doing anything useful, it's because my fingers/hands/forearms have become fatigued and I'm failing to do an up dolphin or an air dash. It looks and feels very silly, but at least it seems to confuse my opponent sometimes.

I have 100 minutes of fighting with @A Chinese opium den recorded and transcoded. My internet sucks, though, so I will wait until I go to bed to try uploading parts of it.
@aweigh linked me this cool SFIV match which is relevant to me as a Sakura enjoyer:
Also, EVO Japan is happening now. JP streams here and EN watch party here. Vampior Saviors side event here. There may be other streams I don't know about.

Watching this back makes me realize I sure do neutral jump a lot. And you post another loss
@A Chinese opium den, I'm just posting them in chronological order. One thing I'm noticing is that I need to figure out how I can follow up a jumping down heavy that lands early. Unless it lands very late, it doesn't combo into my usual routine.
Fighting games are just turn-based games for the zoomer generation.
Enemy takes their turn, then you take your turn, repeat.

my Steam friend code, anyone feel free to add me to play Street Fighter together. I also have Guilty Gear but i never play it, though i'm down to play a few matches of GG as well.

I'd love to kick your ***. Alas, I've stopped playing games.
You have?
@aweigh I sent you a friend request on Steam and added you to the list of friends in the OP. I'll hit you up for a game sometime.

@WhiteShark Just downloaded Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, I'll see how good I can get at it.
Oh neat, that should be fun. I haven't played in a while, so this will be a good opportunity to shake off the rust. Let me know when you feel ready to duel.Gastrick wrote: ↑ July 19th, 2024, 20:03@WhiteShark Just downloaded Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, I'll see how good I can get at it.
Wow @WhiteShark ! You were getting absolutely shrekt in those first two matches but then turned it around big time. Bet that made him start sweating when the bars evened up haha.
God that girl is ******* annoying tho. And Johnny's coin. Seems you get off to a bad start but then shape up pretty quick.

Coin is a pain and so are the long sword attacks he can do, but I've more or less adapted to it. He can also punish some of the dolphin startups that Testament can't, so it took me a while to unlearn that. The secret to May is to play on her stage so the surrounding madokas can lend you their strength.BobT wrote: ↑ July 20th, 2024, 23:13Wow @WhiteShark ! I guess we are. I'm not yet revved up enough about it yet to start labbing again, but we'll see.A Chinese opium den wrote: ↑ July 21st, 2024, 00:58I'll try and play some again if we're getting back to it.
Are leverless joysticks the future or just a fad.

The future, absolutely. Takes a little getting used to if you're a joystick player, but, once you do, it's way better for inputs. They also say it's better for your wrists, and I assume they're right because there are a number of players who switched and stopped having wrist issues.
EDIT: You can also just use your keyboard. That's what I do. It's the same thing, just a question of ergonomics. I had to mess with my bindings a bit to find a comfortable layout, but it's been smooth sailing ever since.

If you are still playing guilty , I'm planning to properly get back into fighting games with whiteshark. Let me know if you want to play some guilty gear still and we can try to co-ordinate a time for some games.Gastrick wrote: ↑ July 19th, 2024, 20:03@WhiteShark Just downloaded Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, I'll see how good I can get at it.
Anybody here have experience with Fightcade? Used to use it to play the old JoJo fighting game with friends back in the day.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

They look like the gayest **** ever. Probably a safety measure because modern audiences were getting too many Sanwa knobs stuck in their asses.
