Edit: Was eating and in queue after this one last night, but the server is 5 or 6 hours ahead if I recall so it was sometime after 2am server side so couldn't get one. Fell asleep on couch watching some stuff on youtube waiting for a pop and got dc'd when I woke up a couple hours later so no idea if I even got one lol. Bonus bg weekend is AV or something else so people might be on mains doing that since you can't get it under 50. Will queue again in the next couple hours as that should be around late afternoon/early evening soon and hopefully get this last one done. Exhausted and just want to get it over with.

So is the new expansion not woke garbage with a dumbed down game system like previous expansions?

I have considered trying the game out at various times in the past, but none of the expansions really showed that it wasn't still the garbage it was since Cata. I could tolerate WotLK, but for me... original and pre-direction change BC is where I found it most entertaining.

The new expansion story has woke elements. Two of the four Earthen leaders are annoying girlbosses. A young novice girl is appointed as the new captain of the Earthen griffon riders over the 1,000 year old veteran vice captain. Moira is another annoying girlboss and badmouths Magni. Apparently you can be a deadbeat grandfather. Everything surrounding Moria is infuriating since she was the one who said "screw you dad!" and had a son with the demon worshipping dwarf who had been making war against her people, and wants to have it both ways where she wants to be heir to both the Bronzebeards and the Dark Irons. And then the dancing troll lady, Orwenya, is yet another annoying girlboss. The Hallowfall narrative has overtones of "we must get over our distrust of people not of our race and become globalists, and those ethnocentrist templars are evil!". Also universalist slanted feel-good Light worship where the Light is just having happy thoughts. Also, if you finish the levelcap campaign and go to the inn in the Weaver's Lair, you can see a skit where the Weaver comes in to comfort the disfigured Queen Neferess, and it seems to have romantic overtones? Queen Neferess is a lesbian? Then who was Ansurek's father then?

I was pleasantly surprised by Faerin. Her ugly cinematic model set bad expectations that she would be another girlboss, but ingame she's actually a very pleasant girl. Probably tied with Baelgrim and Vizrek as my favorite new expansion characters. Actually it's rather jarring when a cutscene happens, because her sweet voice and her ugly model do not match at all. Should have had a cute girl model. I guess Steelstrike is yet another woman leader (I would have liked to have seen more of that older man Arathi commander), but at least she is not annoying like Adelgonn/Brinthe/Moira/Orewneya.

O great BG master @Classix , please tell me your strategies! I have been pugging rated battlegrounds on retail every now and then over the years to get the Vicious Saddle mounts (I had the steed/wolf, Warsaber/Skeletal Warhorse, Mechanostrider/Kodo, Turtle, Saber, Gorm, and Sabertooth). I am currently doing the new 8v8 solo queue RBGs trying to get the Skyflayer mount (first flying Vicious saddle mount in the game). I would like to improve my winrate (tallied across the four characters I mained and did a lot of RBGs on):

This is what I know:

• On the maps with multiple points (Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, Deepwind Gorge), you want to avoid overcommitting to middle and want to try to capture as many points as possible, ideally three since that is how many you need to hold to win. In coordinated PUGs over Vent/Discord I have been in, we found the best strategy was to ignore mid entirely and to instead rush the two bases on the enemy side. I think I do well/okay on these maps.
• For Silvershard Mines you want to send 3 to secure the offcarts while the rest of the team commit to water or lava. I think I do well/okay on these maps.
• For capture the flag maps of Warsong Gulch and Twin Peaks, there are really only two points (FC and EFC) so there isn't much strategy in terms of where to send how many men where and it really boils down to the micro level technical execution of the fights, but you can have a blocker team at your base's tunnel entrance to slow/yank anyone chasing your FC. I feel it is difficult to intercept the enemy team out on the field and get yelled at if I am not on the FC or EFC. I think I do at best okay on these maps.
• For Alterac Valley (last year I did these in an epic BG premade community called Savage Alliance Slayers, sadly it selfdestructed due to moderator drama) you want your entire team's zerg to catch the enemy zerg offguard in mid, smash into them and wipe them, then proceed towards the enemy commander as normal. Back cap towers, get the graveyards ASAP.
• Isle of Conquest: zerg the airship hangar and wipe the enemy zerg there, then glide down to workshop and docks, then assault the enemy fort with glaives while using the airship cannons to bombard enemy players attacking your glaives.
• Ashran: you ride to the enemy fort's backdoor and kill their commander and end the game within two minutes, or you try to catch their zerg offguard and smash them and wipe them, then collect the artifacts and turn them in to spawn the summon and then push up the lane.
• Wintergrasp: IIRC I usually tend to lose this map, don't really know how to make a difference. I just follow my side's vehicles around and try to fight the enemy players attacking our vehicles, or try to defend our walls.
• Strand of the Ancients (now removed on Retail): IIRC I usually lost this map, didn't really know how to make a difference.

If there is anything I have missed, please let me know, but I am most interested in learning how to get better at the capture the flag maps, Battle for Gilneas, and Wintergrasp.

You dodged a bullet I think.
Getting stabbed in the back because of greed, woke ****, items shop for mounts, changing out abilities to make them more modern and seeing the world get cartoonified was not pleasant.

Nice. a buddy I knew from highschool Mike went to a Con once, not sure if it was that one or "Comic" and got an autographed poster I think or shirt of Phantom Menace and the actor did a display with a prop. He knows his stuff apparantly.
