apparently it sold less than 1M copies. Doubt there were a lot of sales on EGS.

Warping the boundaries of what can be considered a success sure.

the game still didn't break even. After the review period, in February 2024, Remedy announced that Alan Wake 2 had sold 1 million units by the end of December 2023, and 1.3 million units as of the beginning of February 2024.
...
Alan Wake 2 has already recouped a significant part of the investments made by Epic Games Publishing, and we expect the game to be a meaningful revenue and profitability driver for the year.
Funny how they were trying to astroturf everywhere proclaiming it a giant success with fans.wndrbr wrote: ↑ March 20th, 2024, 12:22https://investors.remedygames.com/app/u ... lease-.pdf

Finally I can have weak anal on my potato pc!
The game finally made a profit?
What's wrong here? The guy could have had Swedish ancestors.

The game has yet to break even.At the time of publishing this report, Alan Wake 2 has recouped most of its development and marketing expenses.
The not being able to lie to investors anymore is the best part.Shillitron wrote: ↑ September 7th, 2024, 06:18After ‘Alan Wake 2’ Failed To Turn A Profit, Game’s Senior Community Manager Calls For “Bigots” To Be Removed From Gaming Communities

Too lazy to copy the screenshots over..
Biggest takeaways:
- Now that twitter doesn't shadowban everyone devs are seeing real feedback instead of the ultra-nice-fellow-liberal-friend feedback
- They know their games are losing money to DEI rebellion and intend to combat it by letting investors know ahead of time "our bottom lines are gonna hurt but stick with it"
It's ******* over.
I’m curious how long Remedy will stay around when it’s games continues to flop with them even doubling down in making sequels to those same failures.Shillitron wrote: ↑ September 7th, 2024, 06:18After ‘Alan Wake 2’ Failed To Turn A Profit, Game’s Senior Community Manager Calls For “Bigots” To Be Removed From Gaming Communities

I'm guessing IF they manage to not pozz the Max Payne remakes, they might get some way of staying afloat.Unhelpful Contrarian wrote:I’m curious how long Remedy will stay around when it’s games continues to flop with them even doubling down in making sequels to those same failures.Shillitron wrote:After ‘Alan Wake 2’ Failed To Turn A Profit, Game’s Senior Community Manager Calls For “Bigots” To Be Removed From Gaming Communities

The industry tried so hard to create the perception that the game was GOTY and phenomenal. Very transparent and desperate.Gunnar wrote: ↑ September 7th, 2024, 22:25You can tell they really, really wanted Alan Wake 2 to do well and it makes them so mad that it flopped“almost recouped part of its budget”

They did and like everything they do, it was ridiculous and doomed to fail before they even started. Alan Wake was always a middling property and they already tried a sequel before and it didn’t do terribly well, why on earth would this game be a hit now? It was a stupid idea that might have broken even if it had Alan Wake as the main character, and that’s about it. These people are gigantic idiots even before the woke has a chance to factor into it.Breathe wrote: ↑ September 7th, 2024, 22:31The industry tried so hard to create the perception that the game was GOTY and phenomenal. So Remedy is now Tencent's *****, does this mean less ugly or more?
