Is WoW a good game to play for someone who never played it?
I'd say try out the trial and if you like it enough to get to the trial max level, you can keep playing. Something that is also worth mentioning is, that you can go to the main cities (Orgrimmar and Stormwind) and talk to Chromie and choose your timeline (this means you can go back in time so that everything in the world is reset to that point.) from 8(?) different ones. Each of them represent a past expansion.
Chromie is transgender do not do this

Yes, if you play on a Private Server that's pre-WoD.

The free trial unfortunately is a bad experience. It only takes you to level 20, which is too low to do any of the fun fights. The level scaling would perhaps allow you to finish expansion storylines like MoP, but doing all of those quests while being stuck at level 20 and not getting your full toolkit would probably feel bad. The only real merit in playing free is if you intend to RP and socialize, as you are only locked out of the latest expansion zones, and RP campaigns tend to be hosted in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, sometimes in an old expansion zone. I only saw a couple Warcraft Conquest campaigns happen in the Dragon Iales during Dragonflight.

Ah got it. Thought the trial was a bit more like the xiv one. Well, then get the cheapest wow version with 30 days and test it out.

If someone was trying to start WoW I guess I would recommend they play WoW Classic since that's the magic that got everyone addicted.

Level cap campaign:

Image

Image

It has been only two or three days since Dalaran crashed, and Jaina and Thrall portalled back to Orgrimmar and Stormwind. In Mists of Pandaria, Admiral Taylor had the world's state of the art airship, and it still took her several days to get from the Jade Forest to Stormwind, and then it took the Horde and Alliance's navies months to assemble and then sail to Krassarang Wilds. There is no possible way the Horde and Alliance navies could have mobilzed and then sailed to Khaz Algar in 2 to 3 days. If they were all on board airships and Jain and Thrall took whatever was already available on standby, then perhaps it could have been done.

Image

Whoa, is that Redhorn? Dezco's son? At long last? I remember being excited when he was datamined in Dragonflight, but come the actual expansion I looked around and never saw him. Sadly you can't talk to Kor here. Last we knew, Dezco was forced by Chi-Ji to give his baby son away to the Golden Lotus. Don't know if Kor is still with them and he is here as a representative of the Golden Lotus (didn't see any other NPCs) or if he got released and joined the Horde.

Image

I'm liking these aerial combat abilities. Hope I can keep them.

Not fond of this "traditionalism is bad, Titans bad" narrative.

I am a little peeved they showed me a prerendered cutscene and then it still had the "World of Warcraft: The War Within" branding at the end. Tacky. Guys, you don't need to sell me the expac. I already bought it. I am playing it. Kindly take this branding out of my face.

Image

If Xal'atath is manufacturing an army of Ascended who can dash at near lightning speed, then she would have easily won by now. The fifty of these guys seen in the Ansurek video could slit the throats of our army in seconds.

Oh gee, yet another "bad male leader" who has to step down and be replaced by a new young girl.

More cultural revolution nonsense.

Looks like that's it until next week.

Olbarig, the 1,000+ year old second in command of the Stomriders who should have succeeded Baelgrimm as Stormward, steps down and nominates the rookie Stormrider girl who has zero leadership experience and asked the player character to lead the Stormrider squadron against the Titan colossus.

Finished the level cap campaign.

The Nerubian invasion of Arathi was pretty underwhelming. It just flying around killing a dozen mobs and then bursting down three officers and that was it. Didn't feel threatening or like a huge invasion like the end of Hallowfall/start of Azj-Kahet with the wall collapsing, villages being overrun, airships bombarding hundreds of incoming spiders, the airships being boarded by Nerubians, etc.

In the scenario at the Priory, it was very frustrating that the NPC party members kept wandering off. My light meter is running out and I need Faerin to place down that light AoE to keep me alive as I am being eaten by void magic, and I look around and I can't even see where she is. Where did she go?

Boggles my mind this multi-billion dollar game can't afford good writers to write dialogue. The cutscenes are always Hollywood trash.

Questline ends with Anduin sitting down on a rock pouting for the Nth time.

I played Ascension a few years back. Being able to mix and match abilities is novel, but there wasn't much actual fun to be had content wise. It is Vanilla/TBC era, content I've already done countless times before and am sick and tired of. The PvE endgame is constructed like Retail in that you either go out to do daily chores in zones out in the world, or you're speedrunning their version of Mythic+ instances over and over. Now PvP is a little more interesting because you go out to the designated zone of the day where the rarest materials can drop (only in PvP mode), and there is some risk as if you die then your killer can take one of your equipped pieces of gear from you. That could be a little fun to play with friends in a group.

The devs kept taking the servers down every couple hours to patch them.

There is none. The one with the highest production values and the least amount of overt wokeness is FF14, however once you get 300 hours into the story you begin to realize just how atheistic and bleak the world view of the writer(s) is and the narrative begins leaning towards globalism after Stormblood.
I'd rather keep playing warcraft tbh. So far "The War Within" is ok, there is more going on in the first 10 minutes than in 10 hours of yawntrail. Oh and the possibility of using the dynamic flying is great. I might even consider changing race and name of my female belf paladin to a earthen male
please do

why were you playing a foid
There, I changed my race and gender since I waited for the earthen to be unlockable.

I was playing on there before I heard about that revision or what ever it should be called, but I understand. I don't follow anything retail based, just heard about it from world chat months ago. Perhaps I'll look into Lordaeron or Ascension. I'd have to dig up my Warmane info again if there is an option. One of my accounts on there I can't seem to recall the login info and frustratingly can't find where I've written that one in particular down. Either way I have loads of gear, multiple guilds/bank tabs full of stuff and gold for people to get things up and running.

Those new DK, Monk, and Evoker sets look cool.

Hold up. Alleria and Xal'atath somehow make it onto the 20th anniversary art, but not Varian, Garrosh, Deathwing, and Khadgar? Even though they were central characters for many years?

The monk armor is a huge failure. The stated intent for the newer classes was to model off of an NPC with similar abilities in the game pre-TBC.

Evoker taking inspiration from Nefarian lands that very well.
No idea which Death Knight that is supposed to be inspired by, so we'll call it a fail since it doesn't reach the level of the DK starting zone gear. Should have been inspired by Instructor Razuvious (armor made of ice) or the first generation DKs (Teron Gorefiend, Ringwraiths).
Monk set has more plate pieces on it than the DK. Only monk in the game at that time would have been Chen Stormstout and his facsimiles, which this looks nothing like.
Demon Hunter was supposed to look like that Shiva demon? I have no idea. Looks like ****, should have used the opportunity to make a set closer to Illidan's look. Maybe the chest piece just gives you tattoos instead of a shirt.
