What are all the interesting things the player could do in Arx Fatalis?

Refresh my memory.
I feel I forgot some...probably did. So did everyone else probably.
I think a big long list is warranted.

The whole ******* game is amazing, and I can't wait for the new expansion/mod Arx Insanity. Taking way too long to make, and I'm getting antsy.
One of the coolest things you could do was kill the king, take his keys, open the door to the world outside, and freeze to death automatically.

That's it? Anything else?
Like I said, nobody remembers nuffin'.
What's the point of making good game events and mechanics if nobody remembers anything about them after a year?
Why do people remember films in detail but forget games

I think Arx Fatalis is probably underplayed relative to how good it is. A lot of grogs will skip over it because it's at the beginning of the nu-RPG, and a lot of younger people will skip over it because it's at the beginning of the nu-RPG and therefore the controls/UI are awkward.NotAI wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 22:26That's it? I recall you could listen to two goblins arguing and if you waited enough they attacked each other, but it has been ages. Anyone happen to know what I'm referring to?

I would think the difference is while story methods are timeless and can be appreciated regardless on what time period it was made. However gameplay mechanics which can become dated to be within a very short time span ( there are exceptions) that contemporary players would find unappealing.NotAI wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 22:26That's it? Films tend to be 1½ to 2½ hours long cinematic affairs that a lot people watch repeatedly for "entertainment". Such behavior makes it easy for even the most dimwitted to remember their favorite movies in detail. Meanwhile, games like Arx Fatalis are 20+ hours long endeavors who usually lack iconic cinematography and are more akin to a slice of life within said games universe. Thus the experience will not only vary per playthrough, but also per player, making it a lot harder for specific sequences to leave a mark. Which is why most scenes remembered by "gamers" tend to be cutscenes and/or bosses.NotAI wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 22:26That's it? Anything else?

I posted it elsewhere, but...rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 22:50I recall you could listen to two goblins arguing and if you waited enough they attacked each other, but it has been ages. Anyone happen to know what I'm referring to?
If you sneak, you hear one goblin complaining about another leaving dirty plates in its room. It threatens the dirty goblin.
Sneak in and get a plate from the dirty goblin's room and leave it in the first goblin's area for it to find.
It loses it's mind and goes to threaten, then attack the dirty goblin.
Hilarious.
Unfortunately there was little else of this caliber in the game to find...
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

I desperately want Arx Fatalis 2, but Microsoft has already said no. Arkane is left with only the French headquarters, and Dishonored 3 might not even be released by 2030, while Prey 2 won't be out until 2035. Muh, at least give us a proper remaster of Arx or sth such as mod integration

If Ubisoft hadn't forced them to use the Might & Magic IP and instead made Arx Fatalis 2 at that time, Arkane's history would probably be completely different. It's clear that Dark Messiah doesn't have much relation to Arx 2.
