Age of Mythology: Retold

As you all know Age of Mythology got a remake similar to those that Age of Empires got.
I got the complete edition and wanted to check if it is a good remake or a warcraft 3: reforge kinda mess.

Gotta say so far it is a good remake. Graphics look good, troops don't look too cartoony and retain their original look well.

The voice acting is hit or miss, some sound nice and some are too accented. The old voice actress for Athena was a lot better than the new one, she has a heavy accent.
(Game is currently only playable via the deluxe edition and getting to play a week earlier but there are already mods that add back the original VA, the barks and also the soundtrack)

Content-wise everything is in.
You have the campaigns:
Fall of the Trident
The Golden Gift
The New Atlantis
All four pantheons are in and the chinese one is not included (Which is good because it was a **** addon. They might return via one of the two expansions they are doing)
You also have Mythical Battles, an additional campaign where you have Challenges with their own stories that still feel relevant to the main campaign.
I'm compiling all of the pantheon gods and doing a RETOLD vs ORIGINAL collage. ADDITION: There are about 5 new gods, 4 of them are Norse and one of them is Egyptian.
AEGIR, FREYR,ULLR and VIDAR are the new norse gods and Sobek replaces Hathor for the Egyptian Pantheon.

Seriously, though, it looks 90% identical to the old game. Changes I've seen look okay, like that you can re-use god powers with favor.

The project lead is a fat chick, so I do expect to see changes fit for modern audiences in the expansions.

Honestly pretty decent for a remaster, they got rid of all the retardation EE brought, and reworked some mechanics to be more interesting, like favor for atty or monuments for eggy.
God portrait were obviously AI generated, but they reworked on the ugliest one in the beta, and they are overall more palatable than a few month ago.

They are still a few stupid change because of current year, but I found them overall minor :
- they are no longer nords runes on laying around on some map, no official statement to explain this, but it's admitted that it's because of " nazi symbolims '(?)"
- No cadaver nor skeletons remains where units are defeated, except for a few mythic one, pretty sad.
- They removed the "you've been beaten by a girl" taunt because it's current year.

A bit too soon to rely talk about the meta, I think greek and hades especially are in a pretty good spot, but things might change.

It has Titans but not the Chinese campaign yet (but who cares about that). There are supposed to be 2 upcoming DLCs, Chinese probably one of them.

As Acrux said, everything the Extended edition has is also in Retold minus the chinese (but that is not a loss since it was quite ****, I mean just look at the DLC on steam, it is Mostly Negative and that stayed that way since 2016. I'd say play the Retold version as so far I had no real changes regarding the story that are severe.
