As an American, I can tell you Europe is only Germany, Italy, France, when I remember its there, and Mexico. The rest of you blend into the background.

Here in Italy America I heard people ask a Polish woman I know "where are you from?", and when she says "Poland" they cannot understand and begin to say things like (Poland is Polonia in Italian for context) : "Ah yes! Bologna!" and other such countries or cities I don't recall the names of. There are many that only know of Germany and Italy, France being remembered as a "ah yes" afterthought, and usually paired with insults about the food if it's from an Italian speaking XD
