Grim Dawn

Post by Eyestabber »

There's really no thread about this game? It's very good, you know? I solved the grindiness issue with this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/grimdawn/mods ... escription

My character is a lvl 40 Death Knight so far and I'm reaching the mansion where you rescue the inventor. And it's from 2016 too, how the **** did that manage to evade me for so long?

DISCUSS!

But yes, Grim Dawn is a good game once you eliminate the grindiness. Oh and Grim Dawn will get a new Expansion too.

I recently played through this as a Demolitionist focused on fire damage and wrecked everything. The game is fun but pretty easy.

I've had it for a while, and didn't complete it due to that grindy repetition. Played Demolitionist mixed with Soldier.
I think it has been mentioned on RPGHQ before, but only in passing. It's got an enticing atmosphere, I'll try playing it again with that mod.

Titan Quest has the same dual mastery system - it was made by the same developers under a prior studio - and a great setting, especially in the second act. Very good brainless monster-killing games.

There was some aversion to the game by people here, I can't remember what it was, but it had something to do with the developer his politics, and his portrayal of it in the game. I can't remember, so if it is the wrong game, my apologies. I have only played it briefly so don't have much of an opinion on it other than "Diablo". /shrug

I've tread playing this instead of Diablo 2 / Sacred / Torchlight, but returned to the originals instead. I think I clocked 10-12 hours in GD before boring out.

I still want to play it after 20-some years. Well, occasionally.

I find that many modern ARPGs are made with consoles/mobile in mind, and it kills both scale, pacing and complexity.
